Khukuri

This is a mass produced piece with a fired enamel paint on the grips. It has nothing to do with the 'koftgari' technique. The blade is typical with the chrome adding to the 'glitter' and would probably fold in half if used as a knife.

The lion's head pommel was never used by any Indian military unit and I have seen only one example where it was used on anything resembling a high quality presentation kothimora. My advice is to stay far away from any kukri with this type of pommel regardless of what you think the blade may be. The Indian Gurkha Officers I have spoken to totally dismiss these "knives" and don't even consider them a type of weapon.

Thankyou to one and all for your help on this one. I have learnt a great deal about this type of blade and their use and history by buying an old looking knife from an antique barn, and in this it has proven it's worth even if i was advised just to throw it away. It now stands on my mantle as a proved conversation peice and i sound like i know what i am talking about when i talk about it.
Thanks again :)

Good or bad, all kukris hold some type of story. The more you can handle, the more you can compare and learn.
