Pappy, Berk, can y'all make it this Saturday? One way or the other I'll be down in Austin buying leather for my sword baldric, my new Tarwar is no belt knife. I'll probably wind up at the Dog and Duck around 1300 hrs., the first round's on me and I'll be packing more blades than a bag of disposable razors. If you can make it that'd be great, if not you'll be missed but we'll raise a glass in your honor. Any other central Texans who might be lurking the forum, be advised, you're more than welcome to join us. Sipping beer, swapping war stories, and comparing khukuris, heck, it don't get much better'n that.

Thanks for asking, Sarge. I don't know right now but I'll try to let you know in a day or two.:)

Man! and I was just in Austin last weekend ;) Oh well, have one for me, too.

BTW, never heard of the Dog and Duck. What's it like ? Had some beer-lovin' friends suggest The Gingerman down thataway before...

Bruise if you wanna stop by my house on your way you can borrow a pair of roller skates:D

Sarge,
Sounds like a winner to me - barring unforeseen complications, I'll be there.

Good deal Berk:

Del wanted to meet you and thank you in person. He's a heck of a good guy, being a native of the Phillipines he took to khuks like a duck to water, having practically grown up with a bolo in his hand.
I've got a couple of arts and crafts projects for you and Pappy, chakmas ground from old files. These things'll burnish the edge on a khuk like nobody's business. They've only got one problem, these things will cut, I don't know how to grind a blade without an edge, just seems unnatural. And, I've tested them both with a good piece of flint and found they'll strike sparks nearly as well as my old firestriker forged by Ragnar. What's the project part? I left them unpolished and sans handles so you guys can have a little fun tinkering with them.

Blades, beer, and fellowship, now all we need is the Swedish Bikini Team and it truly couldn't get any better.

I better stick with the blades, beer and fellowship, or SWMBO might not let me out of the house.;) Looking forward to meeting Del, and hope Pappy can make it. Will bring a few one-of-a-kind HI creations to show off. I love arts and crafts projects!

Allowance day is still a week away and Mama has to go to a specialist tomorrow. If Tricare messes things up again I'll be paying for meds. with a credit card. Drink one for me.

Sorry to hear it Pappy, best luck and a prayer for you and the missus to have a good outcome tomorrow. E-mail me your snail mail address and I'll send you some stuff to tinker with, and you bet your hat we'll have a cold one for you.

Bruise, try some hooflex

The prayers sure can't hurt anything. I'm sure hoping that this one can help her get rid of the head ache and nose bleeds. A couple of those nose bleeds have scared hell out of me.

I'd love to live in the states - there aren't enough khuk nuts here in the UK !!

Have fun chaps

We haven't met in person but, from what I've seen of your posts here; You'd sure be welcome in Texas if it were up to me.:)

Brendan,

Ditto what Pappy said. Hey, what we need is a khuk nut exchange program. By the way, if you haven't gotten your Tarwar yet, let me add to your agony by saying they're exquisite. A lot of my medieval reenactment friends have seen plenty swords, but they've never seen what a real one will do. I'm scheming now to set up a cutting demonstration at an event in the near future, should be lots of fun.

If I could just get John Powell to fire up his jet we would both be there -- The Prince and the Pauper in person(s?).
