Khukuris and Beer II

and John, and Pappy, but the three of us did our best to party for everyone. Once again, three probable terrorist madmen (from the perspective of innocent passersby) stood in a beer joint parking lot in the shadow of the Texas capitol, passing around incredibly large knives and grinning like fiendish plotters:D.
Sarge's tarwar is a thing of beauty; I'm hoping I can do justice to the chakma he made from a file and the beautiful piece of rosewood that came with it. I doubt if I'll approach the quality of the kit knife he made in Afghanistan, with a maple burl handle with hand-rubbed ChapStick finish! Del is a fine gentleman who very graciously returned the 20" sirupati I had given him, so I now have back my very first HI khukuri, which has been around the world one and a half times and done duty in a combat zone. And a cool Northern Alliance-style Afghan hat to go with it. Oh, and the beer and pub grub was good too:). Thanks for a great afternoon, guys.

Always a pleasure Berk,

I swear gang, Berkley has some of the most amazing khukuris this side of the Himalayas. The "Bura Boomerang" blew my mind, and it was just one of many unique and unusual blades I got to handle. Yes indeed, passers by were eyeing us the way antelope look at lions, but we behaved pretty well and managed to escape winding up on the six o'clock news. Pappy, you were much in our thoughts, and all of you were there with us in spirit. Trouble is, spirits can't taste cold suds or good pub chow, or heft a no-kidding, brass handled, Bura made, executioner's sword (that thing gave me the willies). I don't know if khukuris attract the people, or people attract the khuks, but there's definitely something about khukuri lovers that's all right by me

By the way Berk, it was a long ride back to Fort Hood. A certain motor sergeant kept going on and on about a certain little khukuri with a fancy wooden scabbard, that a certain somebody gave him. Yup, today was a good day.

sounds like a great time.

I'm terribly jealous.

I wish a few of us in the NorthEast would get together....

By the way...I'm about halfway through a woodcarving project I will have made entirely with the YCS kit-o-knives...I'll post pics when I'm done.

I don't know why I brought that up just now...must be past my bedtime...:D:D

That was a decent place to have a small convention. The first get together there was very enjoyable. With winter coming it may be a bit hard to get thing right with the weather. So, I have this big BBQ sitting in the back yard that is idol most of the time. I'm thinking that if we plan starting after the first of the year, I would like to have those that can travel to Bastrop county come out to my place this summer and have ourselves a BBQ. Even with Christmas coming I'm going to start saving for a good time. We aren't any fancy folks out here but the wives and girl friends wiil sure be welcome to come with the khuk lovers.

I feel a lot better today even though it rained most of the day here. Moma finally found a doctor that says he can fix her problem with out cutting on her. Thanks Sarge and whoever else helped me pray for her. I know they do some good. God Bless All. :) :D

Hi Pappy

Glad to hear your Mum can get good help without having an op. Still sending prayers.

Regards and blessings
Brendan

Does sound like a great time.

Berk, that 20 inch Sirupati is developing a hell of a provenance and has more frequent flyer miles than Colin Powell.

I don't want anyone to think that I misrepresented Mom. The whole family calls my wife Mom. I usually call her Mama or just Maa. I don't think she would know who I was talking to if I called her much of anything else. Does this mean that we are a bunch of red necks? Really she has been very good to me over the years and, I don't know what I would do if some thing happened to her. So, I try to make sure she gets the best care I can. Thanks for the prayers. I think they always help no matter what religion they come from.:)

Things are getting slower than when I first got on the forum tonight.

Pappy, redneck or not, ain't none of my neck showing 'tweenst the top of my collar and the start of my beard. But then I never had much of a neck anyway. For all I know, Walosi's neck may be greener than Kermit's on the Muppet Show.

Besides, it's what your heart shows that's counted
around this place fer as long as it's been here on BladeForums ( and matter of fact, even before it moved over here ).

Not at all Pappy - I understand, prayers sent anyway !! That's what makes relationships special - to hear that you take such good care of your wife is heart warming, not surprising though.

Look after your lady Pappy and don't forget to look after yourself!! We'll send prayers

Brendan
