Hey All,

My wife (Mrs. Survivormind) and I wanted to drop everyone a line real fast and let you know we haven't forgotten about you guys. We've just been busier than #&@$ working on the homesteading action. We may actually make it to Beckerhead's West if we are still on schedule around that time.

Take care all and we'll hit you all up later on!

Surivormind

P.S. The BK5 and BK2 get daily use and sharpenings out here. They have been real assets for us!

Keep rockin' it, SM!
lots of pictures!

Im so dang jealous of you guys!!!!! Keep us updated, when you get the chance. Pics would be awesome too.

Cool. Fill us in on your build/planning. I'm interested to do this one day when I have a family.

Yeah no kidding, we keep hearing about this "homesteading" jive (which coincidentally makes me think of old timey Oregon Trail stuff [don't die of dysentery]) but we don't get any pics?

OK Dudes, you asked for pics, I've posted them below. This took me forever with our crap connection on the tethered phone but I figured I could give you a taste.

Here's Mrs. Survivormind's throne. You have to be on alert while on it. Don't want to be killed by a mountain lion while on the %&*@er.

This is literally the view from the toilet. WINNING.

Here's a distant pic of our make-shift camp. We cook out of it, keep tools there, etc.

This is a little bit of our cliff. There is a seasonal waterfall nearby.

Here's Mrs. Survivormind doing some work on a stone trail. The BK2 can be seen on her left hip.

Smoked chicken vs BK5.

View from my lunch.

Hmmm, I eat like this every day.

Having a 6 pack. Do this A LOT.

The Mrs., rocking her wine, hillbilly style.

The fridge.

Smoked burgers. Mrs. Survivormind taught me this. DO IT.

Doing dishes.

A feast after a hard day's work.

The caravan on the way out.

Hope you guys enjoyed it. The Mrs. has some photos as well so we may post some of those a little later.

Dude, that is badass! I know you hear it a lot, but we're all jealous as hell. Keep us posted and enjoy it.

Thanks Murphnuge,

We are doing it with very little funds and tons of balls. Seems to be a working combo. There is a lot on the line but every day is a crazy awesome adventure.

This is just bad ass. I told my Mrs a few days ago, that we should just let the house go back and live out of the camper trailer in campsites. She didn't quite go for it.

I'm a blessed man. My wife straight up yanks out bushes, trees, digs holes, does it all and she loves it. We always have fun no matter what we are doing. We are truly having the time of our lives. Honestly though, I don't think it's for most people. It's hard, dirty work with out the conveniences that most people take for granted. I think that there are very few people that could do it, be productive with it, and enjoy it. If you are one of those people, cheers to you. :D

So are you guys living out there in the bush in the trailer or what? I'm a little confused about what it is exactly you guys are doing I guess. Looks like one hell of a good time though either way.

I think they are living in the trailer and base camp as they clear the land and build a place.
If I am not mistaken, they are building a place themselves, to be totally off the grid.

Chime in if I am wrong SM

Silverthorn, you are dead on the money.

Wow thanks for sharing. That shitter is de-luxe. And it's poop brown!

Survivormind - is this a home-away-from-home, or something more permanent? At any rate, it looks like a rewarding adventure.

Hey guys, here are some more photos of us on our adventure.

Here's my hotness husband and two of our kids after planting a raised bed of potatoes. Much more to come on planting after we get the Bobcat.

Here's the twins.

Here's one pic of the waterfall after about 10 hours of light rain. Score on the water.

CLOSEUP of the waterfall!

Me next to the lower waterfall.

This is how we filter our water. LOL

Hotness husband near the lower waterfall.

Pure awesomeness!

My little helper, Conan. He's 14 weeks old and weighs 60 lbs. He's gonna be a big boy!

Our beast. The head bitch. She's one awesome dog.

Casualty number one: BBQ. Thank goodness for charcoal and firewood.

We are pirates, btw. Pirates do what they want because they are free. ARRRR!!!

Our new camp before we added the chairs, BBQ area, etc. Good thing we set up this one because our previous spot would have been flooded in the rain.

We are drinking this RIGHT NOW. Hmmm, what could be red and be in a Corona bottle?

Hotness husband!

Hotness husband mapping out our plans.

Trespassers beware. Remember that we are pirates and we'll make your dumb #&* walk the plank if we catch you trespassing. ;)

Enjoy fellas!

This is permanent. No games here.

We literally sold about 80% of what we owned, bought tools and other things we needed at estate sales (Mrs. Survivormind scored them for us!), bought the property, moved, and have so much in the safe (screw banks) to get us through the hard work. Failure is not an option. The goal is a semi-successful farming operation and cob cottage by this fall and more structures and infrastructure next summer. Based on our timelines and the research we've done, it looks like it's all going to work out quite well. We'll be completely off grid. Solar, water through run-off, veggies coming out of our ears (permaculture based), human waste composting, the whole shi-bang. HAHA!

Praise God for his help with it all. It wouldn't be possible otherwise. He literally made it happen and put in all together for us within about 6 months.

wow.. that is amazing.. i wish you guys the best of luck. where is this all happening, what state? thanks for sharing
