It appears you are dong everything right you have the grinder the right height and appropriate for him. The test for you and him will be as he seeks the style of knife he wants to make, if you encourage his journey carefully it can be a pastime and honest relationship between the two of you for a long time.

I love that photo of you and your son, I believe that scene has been repeated with father and son or grandfather and grandson since man became man. Thanks for sharing your photos and devotion to your sons future, hopefully with a knife in his pocket, prepared for unknown tasks and that knife just may be one he made himself.
