Kifaru packs?

Top notch without a doubt. If you're looking for one pack and brand to last ya, Kifaru will meet the demands and then some. Also gander at all the accessories to customize one to fit your needs. Just the "dock and lock" system should be enough to sway ya.

Matador-

Like many have pointed out, the Kifaru products cost a good bit of coin, but in the long run it should be worth it. I received a EMR and options about 2 weeks 2 days ago. So far I have been on a few short hikes... maybe 15 miles total with the load out I plan on taking on the elk hunt (the right long pocket will hld food but for the pracice hikes I just put in a 5 lb bag of rice and a few 2 lb bags of beans for weight), due to location I am going to drive in since the miss's does not want a 5 hour round trip to just drop me off, but I plan on doing another little hike once I hit camp and then setup and stay there with a friend for 5 or so days as company until the rest of the party shows up. I will be living out of the pack so be it there will be a few trailers, one maybe 2 toy haulers, a wall tent, and a parking lot of cars, and quads up near Whitney Reservoir (about 9000 ft). I hope to take ALOT of photos, and post up some successes and hopefully not many if any failures of the equipment used, if Murphy does kick my ass with something hard core I can opt out and still crash in style, but like noted before, this WILL be a LAST resort.

Here is the new EMR, again I have limited usage on it, about 15 miles give or take. But last year I borrowed a friends Pointman and put 30 EASY miles on it. I wanted on, but decided to go with the EMR since it has the monster storage noted above, plus the removable frame can haul a metric crap ton, plus it can compress to pointman size if needed. Figured it would be the best "first" pack. I have not regretted it at all. I WILL be buying a 6 man with med stove, and the miss's just said... you better not think of buying that supertarp deal you have been looking at... Ill take that as a sign.

Yup and yup. The E&E is great. I dont mind the seatbelt straps with my setup at all. I did a speed accent of Ensign peak here in SLC wearing the E&E, got some weird looks running up a decently steep trail. Ohh well it was fun and great exercise.

Looks nice. There is a belt? I just don't see it. Just wonderinf you use it.

Yes, I actually do. I have the version with PALS loops and the Power Pulls, it's just tucked around in front in that picture. It works good, just put the pack on so the belt is on your hips, tighten with the Power Pulls, and then tighten the shoulder straps. If it's adjusted right with the "delta straps", the belt with hold the pack up even if you don't put the shoulder straps on. The way it carries the weight, the only thing that the shoulder straps do is stabilize it, and you'll have a little pressure on the front of your shoulders. Definitely get the belt.

 Absolutely why I went from the original Mtn Smiths to Kifaru - over mountain trails, that stability and ability to lift the load off your shoulders is worth it's weight!!!

Seatbelt straps comfy or worth the upgrade to xray for a edc pack? Not an attachment like your.

People who carry it like a back pack my get like the strap upgrade, but when stowing it take us a bit more room in the back pouch. Since mine is a pocket, but also used as a small pack for day hikes, or after getting to camp to go look around I ended up placing a platty 2L+ with a poncho wrapped around it for comfort as well as some stiffing for the pack... not to mention the obvious advantages of water carrying and a shelter/ wet weather gear. Having the thicker and larger straps would probably not work well.

When I throw the E&E on and tighten it up, it molds to my back and nothing inside digs into me. The straps feel just perfect. I just weighed my E&E, it has stayed packed with with I am running up Ensign peak with. It is 11.2 lbs but the nalgeen gets emptied each night, so add just under 2lbs for 32oz of water.... Think that number is correct.

heavy duty and HEAVY. and comes with a price tag and wait times.

I guess it depends on what you need. those guys on expeditions to Everest, the North Pole, South Pole, deep Congo/Burkina Faso/Amazon do not use Kifaru Military packs (based on pics in Nat Geo magazines / vids).

I handled (but didn't carry) a Marauder. I wasn't impressed but was surprised by the weight and thin straps.

The larger packs do look nice, tho', if you like the military/tactical look. I do, lol...

I just ordered a G2 E&E with the X-Ray strap ugrade, #10 L-N-L and GPS pouch. I already have a Organizer for the front. I think this will be a great woods bumming pack. Just enough for a couple blades, couple water bottles, camera.
Eventually I'll get the X-Ray or Zulu and can dock this to whichever I get.

I was given permission to post these up by a gentleman on the Kifaru boards. He uses it as a daypack.
Maybe this will be of use to some considering the Kifaru Scout.

Does anyone have the 1L pouch? Will it fit a standard nalgene with a GSI cup nested in it?

Make sure you post a review. And what color? I may do the same get an EE then a bigger pack just to makesure it's a good investment on the big pack. The EE isn't priced to bad but when I get over $350 and don't get to hold /see the item anywhere in person before buying. I need to start small :)

I have a Tactical 26 inch frame with a cargo net setup I made and I use two dry 55L dry bags. I love it. I don’t have any experience with their actual bags.
