Kikuo Matsuda

I have several Kiku knives and a cool wee pair of OTF scissors :p I have also had the pleasure of talking with him in person. He is a great guy and
makes some great knives too. It's also worth looking out for his laminate steel knives with the "super gold" core by the way, good stuff that.

:)

blades look gorgeous for sure, too bad I cant afford any of the ones on japaneseknifedirect.com. (Even if I did finally amass the right amount, the unique models I'm looking at would sell out:D).

But in all seriousness though, besides the high prices given the knives are custom and look stunning, how does OU-31 steel compare in toughness with other steels? (1095, INFI, 5160, VG-10, etc?). The advertisements say its the steel "other" steelmakers want to achieve, because its more homogenous or something, and deemed "Micro fine steel."

Just looking for some expansion on this, thanks!
