Hey this is my first post I've been reading this for a while now though. Here's a little info about me:

My name is John I am 18, currently living in Philadelphia (student) and I have been interested in Balisong for a long time now ever since I was a kid. I bought my first one in Chinatown NYC a few years ago (a cheap Jaguar which was quickly confiscated by my parents) and have been hooked since. I finally bought a benchmade 42 the other day as a Christmas present...it's so sexy.

Anyway...my question. I've read Clay's tip on replacing the pins in a Jag (great site keep up the good work Clay!). I had my friends dad fix my jag a while back (I know i shoulda done it myself but I didnt know). He took it to a machinist who mustve done the same thing as suggested because it looks like a mushroomed out screw. That made my blade so much tighter, I was wondering the best way of knocking out the other factory rivet in there? I'm pretty sure once I do that I can fix it. Thanks!

From what I've read, you can file or grind the head off. Just cover the handle area around the rivet with some tape to prevent scratching it up. I've had ok luck removing the rivet head with a drill press, just make a small indent with a nail or something so the bit doesn't wander around when drilling.

The pins on my Jag were so loose I was able to cut them away from the inside with a jeweler's saw. If you opt to grind the head off the pin, make sure you get the whole thing, and make sure there's something sturdy supporting the opposite side of the handle when you go to drive the old pin out - otherwise you can seriously screw up yr. handle. A bent pin can toast a handle as well. While it may "only" be a Jag or whatever, a toasted handle is just no fun.
