Hi,
This question might be a little random and the moderators can feel free to close it. So here it goes..
If I put half an inch thick ceramic wool between two fire bricks and compress it. Would it result in better insulation i.e. Less loss of heat through the gaps or would it actually end up being detrimental.
Basically using insulation wool instead of mortar to seal up the tiny gaps between the two bricks and compressing it.
Thanks for any inputs.

just mortar the bricks together only place you might save heat is at the door seal but thats only if you have not made th ekiln right in the first place

If you mortar the bricks together, and then wrap an inch of kaowool around the oven it will greatly decrease the thermal loss.
