I have a gas fired kiln. I would like to add a thermometer to it. Any recommendations?

As noted i n the description of that thermocouple, it is for an electric oven. For a gas forge/oven, you need to protect the thermocouple from the flames and their corrosion. Either a thermocouple well (a stainless steel pipe that is sealed to keep the flame and hot gasses out) or a ceramic sheath.

I called the company that makes this stuff and had a nice conversation with a fellow. He told me about the ceramic sheath. This is a very helpful forum.

I run the same thermocouple type in my forge and in my electric oven, both in the ceramic sheath that comes with the one I posted. I should do as Stacy suggest and get or make a well for the forge though. I picked up 4 of the probes of ebay for cheap once.
