I have an Evenheat KF-27" kiln. At the time I bought it, i figured for the wattage that they start out at (3600) why not get the longest one !

Evenheat makes a 18" model now that runs on standard household current at 110-120 volts. smaller chamber, but it's length that matters ! Still around the $1000.00 area though.

Just buy a kiln that can get up to the required temperatures of stainless (not sure what they are !) The Evenheat's max temp is 2200'F.

24" Paragon. Go 240VAC, the 120VAC units draw a lot of current. While the 18" units are good for most all blades we make, I like the longer 24" unit . It may seem longer than you think you will need, but you will most likely make some bigger blades at some point in time.

A good tip is to mount the oven on a rolling utility cart (HF). That way you can move it out of the way when not needed, and roll it up to the work area for the plate quenching. The quench plates and HT foil can be stored on the lower shelves.

I use a sugarcreek, jim bowie knife kiln. its a 110v unit and works great!its half the cost of a paragon or evenheat.i had my element recently pop on me,sugarcreek sent me a new one which arrived immediately.there customer service is top notch.did'nt even ask for warrentee, just helped me find the problem and then solved it at no cost to me.

I dont know much about the variations from different makers.are the others better..,maybe?? but if cost is a factor check out the sugarcreek.
