Kimber or SA XD or Glock or for 1st .45?

Glocks are ok, but I believe it is sacrileage for your first .45 to be made out of polymer. Unless of course you intend to carry the heck out of it and can't get a 1911 and a glock. Anyone got a SIG GSR? Handled one the other day and pretty nice.

I didn't read through this whole thread so I may be contradicting or reiterating but I would get a Glock in 9mm. Forget the 45, 9 is cheaper to shoot, has less recoil and is available in soooooo many configs.

By the way, I really think that Kimbers are top notch for what they are, I'm just not a 1911 fan really, might be that I'm a lefty.

Same respect got The XD line, they are very quickly earning their salt and giving Glock a run for the money. Still a Glock man though.

I remain a 1911 man through and through, but I just got the chance to shoot that XD in 45 ACP today and it is dead on and smooth as silk. I ran all sorts of hollow points, +P loads and my own hand loads through it. It ran without a hitch. All it needs it a set of night sights and I think it is a keeper. By far better than any of the Glocks I have ever iowned regardless of caliber. Still room in the safe for another 1911 though especially the new on Baer is working on. :D

Sig Sauer 220 is my favorite .45acp.

1911's would be my 2nd.

The Springfield XD looks promising.

Supposedly the new S&W M&P will be coming out in .45acp at a later date too.

had a chance to play with the xd though not shoot it. Felt real good, especially for a 13 shot 45acp, some very nice features too. I am a big glock fan but the xds are definetly looking good.
