Kind of sick of exclusives

The great thing is that Spyderco makes plenty of great models that aren't sprints or exclusives, so you still have plenty to pick from.

Understand the frustration, I rarely buy anything from retailers, I prefer the secondary market.

You definitely missed the point here
Wait, what?

I thought the point was people liked trophies a lot except when they missed out and then they didn't like them.

My method will guarantee everyone a prize. Seems pretty much on point.

This is totally irrelevent and a little silly... if the "trophy" is the knife you want then if everyone gets a "participation prize"... so what we get some Tenacious for free instead of the PM2 exclusive we actually wanted? "Thanks for trying heres some other knife" Right...

But that still wouldnt stop overly greedy people from snatching up as many sprints/exclusives to flip for profit to collectors that cant acquire them bc greedy people bought them out.

I'm sorry maybe I didn't say what I meant correctly, I don't want a trophy I actually want to use the different steels at work , spyderco makes great mule knives but they are a bit more difficult Than a folder for me to use on a daily work application

Nice. That's what I do. I like the tool steel examples I've had from Blade HQ. The M4, the HAP40 and the REX45 examples have been outstanding. I only ordered one of each, haven't flipped them and use them regularly. You should try it.

See for someone like this an everybody gets a knife day would be a huge win! Not sure why you're unhappy with my idea.

I really like Spyderco’s recent move to add new steel to evergreen models (like K390 & LC200N) as well as keeping a few production models around with Maxamet, S110V, etc.

I also really appreciate when they take an evergreen model and turn it into a regular production grail (eg the fluted CF Native 5, the old fluted Ti Mili & the upcoming PM2 Micarta C-W). Things like that really lessen the sting of missing the Rex-45 Shaman, etc.

This is pretty much where my thinking has settled in. I just received a regular production K390 Endura! That would've sounded crazy a few years ago. I still grab the occasional sprint/exclusive, but I don't really get bent out of shape about it anymore. If the current lineup existed when I first started getting into Spyderco I'd probably have a lot more S110V regular productions and a lot fewer M390/204P exclusives. (and I could use the money I saved to buy more diamonds to sharpen it, hah)

Spyderco's added enough of the bleeding-edge materials to the regular production lineup that I can enjoy the awesome performance without having to compete with all the collectors over limited editions.

Mini rant

I really like how spyderco produces exclusives but can't stand people buying multiples for profit .. so I'm not really sick of the exclusives.. I'm sick of not being able to get certain ones lol

I want to use the different blade steels for work to see which I like the the best ... but the limited numbers and quick buy ups make it very hard to

It's not spydercos fault , I'll just have to try and find a way to hawk upcoming releases better

But damnit let the users use lol

I'm sure there has to be some other people that feel the same as me

I am very happy about the upcoming cruwear pm2 and hope it's not hard to purchase
If you want the cruwear PM2, it is available to pre order. that's what i did.

I'm lost. I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with Exclusives, Sprints, etc. If people didn't like them they wouldn't sell, but obviously they do sell and to people who really like them. Too much complaining, must be the virus!

Secondary market, especially on this website. I’ve had very good luck with buying brand new Sprint run knives from Bladeforums members.

An "exclusive" is probably the only way any of us will be able to buy a Slysz Bowie (SB) for a less than exorbitant price (or at least w/features that would justify a higher price).

Sal is quoted as saying as much in other threads.

One w/fluted titanium scales (like the Military) and M390 (or equivalent steel) would be my preference for which I'd be willing to pay up to $500 (which was the original MSRP for the SB and undercuts the 2ndary mkt price on existing SBs) and would probably make the SB fluted exclusive (that I've suggested) even more valuable after the release of the exclusive is exhausted.

I think they are complaining about the flippers.

Because most people want what they ask for, a consolation prize doesn't cut it(unless its a million dollars). If I want a 70" TV, I don't want a 32" TV as a consolation prize. Besides who is going to give away free things as a consolation prize unless they make it up in charging more for their products.
The issue here is the flippers.

Weird. I got what I asked for. Both the M4 Dodo & the Lum Tanto with a laminate blade.

Maybe "most people" are asking for the wrong stuff? I"ll check into that.

It’s part of the game, you need to keep up with the news or pay to play. Limited and exclusive releases make Spyderco more desirable.
