My first post since I moved to Canada for Grad school. Nice to be back!

I survived my first semester of grad school. Man, it was tough and caused many a panic attacks. But I made it.

I am glad to be back. Missed the camaraderie and discussions.

Thanks for the welcome back.

Mike, sorry we missed each other in Santa Cruz this summer. I will have to get down there again. I am trying to get my son into archery. During the break, I told him I was making each of us a spear so we can do spear throwing at a target. I made him a bow with some paracord and yupon but he doesn't have the fine motor skills yet.

Aloha, Chris,

Have fun in grad school. What are you majoring in?

You can get through it; you'll see. :)

Welcome back! I missed your posts around here.

I have only 1 more week of "survival" (finals week) then I get a few weeks off to practice some bushcraft.:)

Speaking of "kind of" survival situations. I'm spending Christmas with my in-laws.

So? Are you up to the challenge? :D Remember a large part of survival is adaptation.

Anyway, despite the fact that it can be problematic, you are spending it with family, and that's what it's all about. Some people have none...........

I'm probably older than you (I've outlived my inlaws - Hmmm, they don't really have a Smilie that will cover this) but there was a classic Christmas movie - White Christmas - and in it, Rosemary Clooney sang a song called, "Count Your Blessings" - definitely a survival strategy. :D

Doc

If nothing else, Doc, my in-laws are responsible for creating my perfect wife. That's definitely worth something. I'll be concentrating on that.
:)

Ugh. I disliked grad school. I enjoyed the academic material I was learning about, but I found the culture of grad school academia really unpleasant. Hang in there - if you like what you are studying, then it will ultimately be worth the effort.

Good to have ya back bro!

So any new steel?

Man, I haven't even had time to lurk on BF let alone buy new steel.:grumpy:

My PC died in Sept, there goes my christmas present.

Evolute, I am in public health.

Are you serious about the panic attacks? Not good man - I would look into that if so.

TF

Hell yeah! I have been lost in the woods...deep shit and all and handled it, but throw some heavy duty stats at me and I cripple up in bed with sheets over my head. The midterms were very competitive.

Many of us went through that this semester. It was hard core. I feel pretty worn out but I made it.

I wasn't expecting such a warm welcome. Just goes to show you the quality of the people on BF.
