Does anyone know where I can find cold steel's article about spears? It used to be under articles, on their main website before they changed it. Does anyone have a copy of "Spear: The King of Weapons"?

BTW, I recently received a cold steel Javelin spear. It is awesome! The penetration is really something, the spearhead would serve by itself as an effective and inexpensive dagger type weapon.

Can anyone point me to that article?

Thanks guys

In case anyone is wondering about the edge on the javelin (specialty items sometimes come with dull edges, bevels not meeting, i.e. special forces shovel, norse tomahawk) it comes with a real sharpened edge. It's not shaving sharp, but readily slices through the cardboard and packing material it arrived in. It is durable so far, showing no chipping or significant edge deformation after being thrown into plywood boards. etc....

Any comments, other experiences.......

Anyone find that article?

Your in the right place, but I for one am not a real enthusiast of spear-type weopons. Just keep staking out here for an answer, but chances are no one has read the article, much less knows where to find it. However, there are alot of people on BladeForums, and someone just might have the info your looking for. Good luck.

Thanks nuke, for the reply. I never thought I'd be into spears either, I bought this one as a gift for a friend. It's kind of a tradition that I give him weird/not totally practical weapons. It has a certain amount of wow factor though.....;)

I remember seeing the article in the Spl. projects catalog about 3 years back. I would give CS a call to see if they could send you a copy or email you a scan of the article.

If you are serious about spears as a fighting weapon, you should check out a Chinese kung-fu school. I have studied many styles of martial art, and IMHO the Chinese styles are the best when it comes to the use of polearms.

If you have never seen CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON you owe it to yourself to check out. There is a scene where the two female leads have a show down using all sorts of Chinese weapons, spear included. It is dynamite, the best scene in the film as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for the posts guys. I will probably just contact Cold Steel for the article, I never thought of that. As for Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, I have seen just a little bit of it and it was awsome. Gonna see the whole thing soon. I'll keep all posted on the performance of the spear, torture testing, and the pig hunt we'll do soon.

questions for coldsteel is often a dead end (believe me, I've tried), but if you are interested in giving it a shot, try russell@coldsteel.com, I used this one a while ago to ask them a question, but still haven't received one, don't think I'm going to get one either. It was given to me over the phone by one of the CSRs, nice guy, but I don't think R&D is very responsive.
