Hi folks.. I have two interesting things available.
The first is what I'm calling a 'trick kiridashi' as it is encased in tricky sort of Eucalyptus burl box. It is my version of a netsuke/inro type set-up where (in this case) a natural shipwreck wrought iron 'netsuke' holds the box in a belt, sash, back-pack strap.. whatever you got. The netsuke and ojime (fossile walrus ivory.. artifact) bead both move up the Japanese inro cord via friction fit. The box is held together with a bamboo pin that also works via friction.. and swivels open.
The kiridashi is laminated steel... 15n20 core and 1075 sides and has double bevel Western style. My maker's mark is inlayed in bronze.
I'm asking $325 shipped CONUS.. overseas customers please inquire regarding shipping costs.
I just realized that the inside of the box was not fully done when I took this picture.. I can update that picture with any interest in this piece:
I'm also offering a big bush knife based on Southeast Asian sugar cane choppers. It is forged from a single piece of 5160 and has an integral, rolled socket handle. It is 21 inches overall and 12 inch blade. The spine is 1/8" with minimal distal taper. Convex grind all the way to the edge. Very sharp.. very tough blade. The scabbard is based on traditional designs but heavily inspired. The wood is old growth white pine that was salvaged by divers from Lake Superior. There is an ebony accent and a copper toggle that holds the hemp cord.. which can be tied around the waist or tied off to carry over shoulder. The scabbard was a friction fit but has loosened up a bit. Not pictured is an ebony pin that has just been inserted for friction and can be adjusted over time. This is a traditional feature seen on Japanese kitchen knives.
The handle is textured for grip and I liked the simplicity of the blade without any kind of wrapping. But if the customer prefers a hemp cord or leather wrap.. I can add this for an additional $35.00.
I'm asking $600 shipped CONUS. Overseas customers please inquire regarding shipping.
