Thumbcutter Goodbeard !!!!

I heard you'd started a cult somewhere in Florida and were training the United States Homeland Defense Bikini Team! :D

(EDIT: You can't make this stuff up.: On a whim, I googled or 'binged' "Bikini Homeland Defense". Guess what? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BIKINI_state )

GREAT TO SEE YOU, MAN !!!

See what Andy has done? You are (more or less) immortalized by a fine knife-maker, who credits your mentoring for his craftsmanship !

Not a bad legacy, eh?

You made me smile when I saw you had posted. Thank you.

Welcome home, Sarge. It doesn't have to be said, but please stop by as often as you can.

I will say this: Andy makes a VERY sharp knife. Mine is scary sharp. HOWEVER, I was lucky enough to handle a Sarge-crafted (as gifted to my wife, who sometimes lets me use it). The thing was an obsidian scalpel:eek: I've kept it very sharp, but nothing compared to what it was. Sharpest piece of steel I have ever handled.

I've missed all you knuckleheads, sorry I've been "away" so long. After stumbling around a bit getting used to being a civilian, I wound up down in Saint Augustine, Florida, working for a living history museum as a blacksmith. Do I still find time to make a knife now and then? You bet, but nothing near as nice as what Andy's doing these days, heck I might just have to place me an order for a genuine "Fiddleback". Kis, you old deer stalker, I don't need a bunch of chicks in bikinis hanging around here, that Irish girl I'm in love with would whittle on me with one of the knives I made her.

And we have missed you here as well Sarge! I can see I'm not alone in welcoming you back and hoping you hang around with us even longer than the last time you were here!  :D

Now tell us all about this Lovely Irish Girl you just happen too be in love with! :D  :p ;)

Howdy Yvsa! 'Bout that Irish girl, her name is Reenie (short for Maureen) and she is the love of my life. Met her down here in Saint Augustine, and we've been together a year now. Took her to the Alafia River Rendezvous back in January and she never once complained about having to be dressed in "funny" clothes, or any of the joys of "primitive" camping. Got so cold one night that the frost looked like a blanket of snow next morning. Needless to say we slept in that day.;) Yup, she's a keeper all right, sweet girl, great cook, and not hard at all to look at. She claims she got the better of the bargain with me, but I know I'm the one that's been truly blessed.

I was honored, and thrilled recently, when Kismet sent me the original Sarge knife (originally named Kismet's Practical Hunter) to copy and add to my line.

The knife didn't disappoint. Its fantastic. I love Greg's work. Its really got a lot of spirit this design.

And she is done today my friends:

When I make the permanent pattern for this knife I plan to add an inch to the handle, and make the butt of it a bit wider, like the antler. I think this handle fits my hand well, but I'd still bet a longer would suit more folks.

What do you guys think??? Y'all think Sarge would think I did OK?

Well Andy it's obvious that Sarge surely thinks so since he gave you his blessing so to speak and I sure as hell ain't about to argue with the Sarge his own self!!!! :p ;) :D

As for myself methinks you've arrived at a new beginning Andy, just don't lose sight of the original no matter what!

I just have a bit of constructive criticism if you don't mind me saying Andy, and Kismet and Sarge may say it's alright the exact way it is, but IIRC Kismet's rather blunt somewhat American Tanto point on the original was something that was planned on with a great deal of thought and foresight and was made that way with a specific purpose in mind..... Something about disjointing tough animal joints at the socket; cutting ligaments or some such thing..... Even though it sorta seems like Kismet was bemoaning something about his lack of skill or whatever preventing him getting a sharp point where the sharp point was supposed to be and instead getting the rounded off point.....
Which we l know can be a real pain in the arse fer a beginner in the trade, I know it took me quite a while to keep the point from rounding over when I first started making knives. :o  :)

Sarge it's just truly wonderful that you finally found such a girl!!!!  :D And methinks as long as you both continue to believe that each of you got the best of the bargain with the other that y'all will be together a mighty long time.
I know it's worked for my Barbie and myself. :D ;)

Wow Andy!!

That is stunning!

The WI bolsters TOO Cool!

If I ever get into knifemaking, you will have been my primary inspiration to finally do it.

Sarge, great to see you!

Y'all made my day!

:D

Thank you, Andy ... both for a fine knife design and for "smoking out" a long-lost Forumite.;)

Andy,
That's a great looking knife. I really like the w.i. bolsters.
You just just keep on improving everytime I see a new knife out of your shop.

Sarge! It's great to see you back posting and have been making your way in the world with fine strides.

Whoa!!! Sarge. What a great suprise to come home to. Very happy to hear from you my friend. For some reaso. I always pictured you doing blacksmithing demo's at Ft Christmas. I'm glad you approve of the knife.

How neat is it that Yangdu wants a version for HER OWN COLLECTION? High praise, I'd say, Andy.

You have created a marvelous interpretation of the concept...shows what a real knife-maker can do with a crude proto-type.

As Sarge said, I'm very proud of you.
