I recently went with my future brother in law to buy a pocket knife and he was looking at the less expensive non-Case's for under $25. He had a gift certificate from Christmas and wanted to get a new knife. He wanted it to have green handles too.
Anyhow, long story short, I talked him into spending a few more dollars for the Case 6318 in Bermuda Green bone. The fit and finish was great and the color of the bone was unlike any green I've seen. Very nice. Steel to him wasn't a big thing, he wants the blades to be shiny all the time. One Case had some large gaps between the liners, more than I like. That might be why it was 40% off. Been sitting there awhile. Who knows. He almost got it because it was closer to his price range.
In the end, he's glad he spent the several extra dollars to get something he'll be glad to use and show off. (And now I'm wishing I would have got one as well!) His wife to be however wasn't too crazy about him going with me to look at knives. She knows my obsession and hopes he doesn't get it too.
