Kit for EDC and Beyond

Hi all,
Kage and DOC, First Kage, that little knife I do make and sell. they are around $20. In that book that I have in the pic with my taped up Final Option kit is called Sixs Ways in and Twevle Ways out written by George Jasper He is a member of of the United States Rescue and Special Operations Group. (USRSOG) In his book He writes about some different survival kits and one of them is called the Final Opton kit. He list 7 items for that kit and if you look at the pic that I posted with the 7 items on the left of the yellow paper and then the items on the right side of the yellow paper you can see the changes that I made for my Final Option kit.
Instead of carrying a razor blade as a last resort type of cutting tool I wanted a little stouter knife so I made up what is now called the Final Option knife. At first is was going to be called the Jasper Knife in honor of Mr. Jasper but when I contacted the USRSOG and chatted with Mr.Jasper about this knife and made him up one, sent it to him and he liked it and said a little knife like this should have been in the SERE community 25 years back and then he posted a great reveiw on it over at there forum and I have been selling them since. After Mr. Jasper got his knife he asked if it could be called the Final Option knife in stead of the Jasper knife. I said sure and that is why it is called that now. To remain with the theme of the knife being lite and small and able to carry it just about every ware It is made from 1/16" thick 0-1 steel I do make some out of 1095 to and they are a few buck cheeper.

Doc if you type in united states Rescue and special operationd group it will take you to there web site and look around at there site and they have the book for sell. It is one if my favorite survival skills books.

Well hope that helps you 2 out if you have any more ?s just let me know.

Hi all,
Here is what I have been carrying lately.

I really like the large sheath knife!
What model is it?

Hey Bryan, thanks for the info. I've had that book on my short list for about 3 years, but it's not sold in any stores, so I haven't gotten it yet. I hate to buy a single item online and pay so much for shipping! Guess I need to stop being so cheap and just get it.

That's a great little knife, by the way. The story behind it makes me want to get it even more.

Is that straw in the picture a fire straw (pjcb sealed in a straw)?

Hi all,

tholiver, thanks, that knife is called the Recon. It was designed By Mistwalker and my self for a Tactical yet a woods type knife also.
Mistwalker did a review of it a few weeks back here on BF wildsurvive and a couple of other forums that he belongs to. The review for the Combat Recon should be comming out soon.

Here is a pic of it before I put the patina on it.

Here is the Combat Recon that I made up and have been carrying for about week now.

In this pic you can see the difference from the Recon and the Combat Recon.

The Combat Recon has a choil and the front part of the upper scallop is higher than the one at the handle blade juction area. It has such a cool look I think LOL.

Kage LOL Yes get that book it is a great read and just full of knowledge. Plus there is some cool stories of the US RSOG guys and what they have done. If you can I highly recomend it.

Thanks the Final Option knife is just some more Insurance for when and if things go bad for ya. You can never have enough sharp steel LOL. It is so slim. You know it is just a drop point handless knife but is has a pretty cool name and does function for cutting line, sraping your firesteel, skinning ( a few weeks back a posted skinning and cutting up a turkey , cutting up fruit and veggies, It is not going to chopp down a tree but will shave up sticks for getting your firestarted and and do the smaller cutting chores that you would be doing in a survival situation if that happend to you. I have one that just sits next to the computer for cutting ticks in half that I pull of my dog LOL.

Yes that is a Straw with cotton and Pj mix in. Good eye on spotting that LOL. I like matches and lighters but a fire steel and a knife and cottong and pj mix is just so basic and if used right will start many fires.

Well Ihope that answers your ?s if not let me know.

Bryan
