Kit Knives, Tin Knives, Ferro Strikers, whatever you call them... these little blades are cool. :D They are also very practical and an inexpensive way to own a knife from a custom maker. I like to keep them in a couple of different fire kits that I tote around, or in a small pocket sheath. Many times, one of these will be the only blade on my person. Here are designs from a few of our favorite knifemakers... Gossman, JK and Breeden. Got a favorite(s)? Let's see 'em.

At first glance they look "cute"... but it didn't take me long to realize how cool they really are.

Who is the maker of the one in the center picture of the OP? It looks just like what I have been looking for to add to an Altoids PSK. Would it fit in one if anyone knows?

That's Stomper (JK knives). He has three patterns of tin knife, the one in the middle of the OP and then the two that he has in his own post in this thread.

EDIT: You get a free tin knife with any knife purchase over $60 or you can order them by themselves too. He's got his own subforum under "Makers", check it out.

I'm partial to that one as well... just got a couple in today!

My small knives are neck knives, I don’t usually keep knives in my fire kit, though it’s a good idea. Mostly I keep strikers in the kits, maybe not as functional but easier to use with flint, and that’s what I grew up with.

So this morning I pulled out a couple and took these pictures. The first one I use all the time, I don’t wear it at work usually but I have, makes people nervous, so I just use pocket knives. I carry this one so often it could be considered an everyday carry when I’m not at work. This knife was made for my by Edgar Chattin, a great knife maker and friend, I have two knives and a tomahawk made by Edgar.

This one was made by Steven Knight, he makes very primitive styles but they hold a keen edge being made from good steel. I have this knife and two throwing knives made by Steven.

That's a sweet blade Hushnel, I like that leather wrap a lot. And welcome to WSS, haven't seen you around before.

I just got a Gossman firsteel scraper that's a great little blade. Much more useful than it has any right to be! Edge is durn sharp too.

The one you are referring to was desinged to fit in a altoids tin. Here are a couple of pics of mine in a tin. I glued two rare earth maglents in the lid to secure the knife in the tin.

Thanks for the welcome. I may have been a member here years ago but I can't be sure.
