Hello guys, I'm a new here like a writer. According to the market we are all warriors, street beaters, self-defenders ... (at least, think so). Knives' market offers a huge selection of tactical folders for us, tough boys. It's great - no questions!!! But in real life, most of us are campers, hikers, picnickers, barbecuers :). And the question is where are kitchen folders on the market? Except a Boker Magnum Cuisine (discontinued), a few fillet folders - nothing!!! I think we need good folding kitchen (slicer, at least 4" long - 5" is better, 2-3mm thick) knives with Spyderco, CR, Strider,... snout. I'll be the first in line. I would like to cut a salad, meat, .. with Emerson folder and think how tough I am. I'll be first in line for the kitchen folder from famous knife makers.
What do you think?

The one thing I would like to see in a kitchen folder is ease of cleaning. I'd want one designed to be dismantled and reassembled by the owner without voiding a warranty.

Other than that, high-end steel, relatively thin stock and flat grind -- good to go . . .

Got the Ti Military -- it would be good except for that taking apart for cleaning part . . . afaik with Spyderco that will void the warranty . . .

I wonder if CRK would be interested in making a Kitchen Sebenza . . .

Opinel. I guarantee you will not find a folder that cuts food better than the Opinel.

I have a #12 that I use only as a travelling cook's knife. The #10 is fine too.
If you're not the chopping board kind of guy you might like the #8 better.

I don't like Russel - good kitchen knife should have a full flat grind (for slicing salami, hard vegetables and to be thin - Boker Magnum Cuisine I only 2.2mm thick). Look at this

Opinel is a good one, but definitely, it's not premium league.
Cherusker Messer ryback looks great. Now thick is it?
But anyway, not much of a choice - just one real knife .... shipped from Germany (Boker Magnum Cuisine I is from Germany too). It's all about - The leaders of knife industry ran into debts!!! :grumpy:

I don't know, I just use my Randall 14 for that. Why use a folder when you can use a real knife?

The REAL knife is a kitchen knife, because WE USE IT THE MOST. Of course it's possible to use even a (real) axe to slice salami :) Again the topic is about that we can't buy a REAL folding (kitchen) knife, but have a huge selection of UNREAL knives.

Try the Luxe series. Lots of nice handle materials like Olive, and Horn to choose from.

Cold Steel Pocket Bushman.

I second using the large selection of Opinels available if in need of folding cutlery.

But seriously, why would you want to use a folder for the kitchen? A large fixed blade Chefs knife or Santoku will do the work faster and easier than messing with a folder, plus is easier to clean.

I use my spyderco military for everything including food prep and it works great. It has a long wide ffg blade that comes to a fine point, it almost looks like a shrunken chefs knife.

Check out the Blade-Tech ULU. That is made for kitchen use and locks in two distinct ways depending on the task at hand.

Great and stylish knife + thin blade I guess, but luck of tactical look.

The Ryback looks like it would function just fine as a real folding kitchen knife:

Great, but definitely too thick to be a kitchen knife! (4mm?) It's not a kitchen knife. Henkels knives are less than 2mm thick.

I meant camping, hiking - OUT DOOR :)

As previously mentioned:

A.G. Russell Folding Hocho (in VG-10)

Spyderco Military (full flat grind makes for wonderful slicing)

And, another very simple possibility, a Case large Sodbuster. Tru-Sharp stainless takes a VERY fine slicing edge (also full flat grind on this model), and is very easy to resharpen. And it's not very expensive either (can be had on the 'auction site' for much less than the retail price; I paid $13 for mine). Makes a great little utility/veggie slicer.
