Kitchen knife for camping?

This was one of my early pics, but I think the guard is too long. Projects below the blade too far.

Michael, if you do happen to remember the maker, please share it, that is a very nice knife for this topic.

Why is it that you don't consider the CS MH. Either version presents superior steel to the Wusthof. It is stouter than the Wusthof. It has a thicker - more hand filling - and secure, grip than the Wusthof. It's flat ground top to bottom like the Wusthof. It has more belly than the Wusthof. It's as cheap or cheaper than the Wusthof. It's specifically designed for your application and more. It has been used by countless outdoorsman for over a decade and is probably CS's most successful design.
It would be my choice over any of the knives pictured for your intended use.

I like the Russell Green River Knife Series, they worked in the early days of this countries frontier lifestyle, under $20

If you want the URL for the site Email me.

Been using one just like this one for 30 years, tried many, many others. Haven't found anything better at any price. Currently on it's 4th sheath.

Mine gets used every day in the kitchen, and on every Hunting, Fishing and Camping trip I've been on since 1973. Summertime, it spends a lot of time with me in the garden. Cleaned and butchered everything from squirrel to Bear and bluegills to Walleye.

Best $8.50 I ever spent!

took a nice dark patina, but has never rusted!

Nothing special, it just works very, very well indeed!

Maybe those old time Hunters and Trappers knew a thing or two about knives.

It's possible!

Michael,

This shows a set of my most popular kitchen / outdoorish knives
http://www.bgoodeknives.com/images/kitchenset.jpg
The top one and the bottom have been the more popular ones. The top blade is a 6.5" and the bottom one is abound 3". Maybe you should look for something in the 4.5" to 5" blade length like the one thats 2nd from the bottom. Not trying to advertise for myself but it seems like your searching for the same all aound useful knife such as myself. I do like seeing your collection of knives. You have some nice ones!

This Warnclif just screams to be a camp knife.

The flat edge wont be a "rocker" on the cutting boad though.
Again I am not advertising just using my images for reference.

I think the TR you have is a nice design. From what I have read they sure are slicers! I look forward to keeping up with this thread....good topic for me since all my kitchen knives end up in the bush ;)

How about yet another Swedish Mora? In June, I bought the model 1-0205P by KJ Eriksson and been using it throughout the whole summer for different chores like camping, sports fishing and in the kitchen. It performed quite well in all those situations and it's only $12!!
Here's a link: http://www.kjeriksson.se/index2.html

Also the model 1-4171P looks interesting.

Finally the TTKK sheath used a Tek-Lok, so it rode high on my belt. I prefer a drop-sheath.
I have found that to be one of the biggest determinants of what knife I carry, or ever like. Doesn't matter how good the fixed-bladed knife is, if you can't carry it easily, it won't be there when you need it. And if it isn't there when you need it, it's pretty much useless....
