Kitchen knife for mom

Used the GIMP program.
For a GIMPy program it works pretty damn good.;)
Nice animation Warrior.

Love the knife so far Chris & I'm sure your mom will too.
It kinda looks like the Victorinox Paring knives.
I have 4 I've been using since the early 90s.
A very handy size for the smaller chores in the kitchen.

Here is the new one I came up with. I suck at drawing so the hump on the handle will probably get smaller after I grind it out. I kinda want to try bolsters on it.

niiice!
I like the fact that the handle is centered on the point, but there is a slight angle that helps keep the knuckles clear of the cutting board.

Vik, that was one of the problems with the one I ground out. It wouldn't allow you to rock back without hitting your knuckles. Hopefully with the handle angle the new one will have clearance. Im going to leave some room when profiling so I can check that first, than take away where its needed. I think the angle on the blade plays a huge roll in it too. I drew this one out to fit on 1 1/4" stock but Im going to make it out of 1 1/2" so Ill have room to change things if needed.

OK, On occasions in the past I have been accused of not being the sharpest knife in the drawer & being I felt a little twitch in my right leg as if it were being pulled on when I read that, I'll be the first to bite . . . . . what the hell is the GIMP program :confused::confused:
Is it kind of like the SWAG method for working up bids and quotes ???
And if there is such a thing as a "GIMP" program, I can always plead old age and out of touch with the 21st century computer age . . . ;)
Be safe.
p.s.: Knife is looking better Chris, change is good . . . .

Yeah, vic's right. GIMP stands for "GNU Image Manipulation Program". You can Google it. It's free. It's like Photoshop.

Warrior, Sally T. & I just got our first digital camera a few months ago. When I get the pixels, downloads, image formats, ISO & all those other terms down, then you can bet I will jump right on that GIMP program . . . :) :)
My son come over the other night after I had spent about an hour trying to re-hook our cable box, dvd player, vcr, (hey don't laugh, I still have a Beta player in the closet) and stereo receiver back up. We were sitting on the floor, and after about 5 minutes he has everything hooked back up and running. He turns to me and ask's, "Dad, did you feel that rush of air ? " I said no, what air, and he says, "Dad, that was the 21st century blowing right by you" . . . . . damaged football knees trying to grab him prevented a homicide that night in Cincinnati . . . .
Digital age, here I come . . . . .
Be safe.

Haha :D

Ha, I love this forum . . . . . Only on BA & Chris's forum could a thread subject start out strictly as a kitchen knife, progress thru the evolution of the designs, veer left into the world of computer animation, do a complete 180* turn into the vast and complex world of computer digital animation, sharp right turn into the personal saga's of a father and son, revert back to the "stone age" of electronics and 8-tracks, complete with pictures of proof that it did exist, and come full circle hopefully with the finished said kitchen knife being completed on time for Christmas . . . :)
God I love this place . . . . .

I'm sure it will get back on track Bill. Just as soon as Chris gets done grindin' ,kicks his shoes off , and takes some pics to post. :D

you don't see those stages often, thanks for the WIP pics + to Warrior for the anim GIF

I like them all and sure she'll do, too!

You're welcome. It does make it easier to see the progress, that's for sure.
