Well, I probably got a jump on everybody else on this knife cause I had never done a kitchen knife before. Since then I have learned to make Saya's and do a pretty good job (IMO) in grinding the thin stock for these type knives. I like working with thinner stock, and I have now done quite a few kitchen knives that I feel really good about. This first one I posted before, but I have tweaked it up a bit since them--I really like the way the scales came out on this one--they are spalted pecan, stabilized by K&G--the blade is from a piece of thin stock 12C27 that a friend from Sweden sent to me. The Saya, is Mahogany/Walnut/Mahogany and has a Teak 'pin' for it. I like the way it came out as well. So here are a few pics. Oh, and Oh Yeah--I'm Ready!!

This last pic was before the handle scales were finished.

This is the second full size chef's knife I've made.

Saya is African Mahogany with maple spacer and mosaic locking pin.

8.5" blade is made from 12C27 heat treated by BOS to 59.

Black and blue G10 scales secured with titanium pins.

I don't think the size is an issue. Anyone would love to have that knife.

My KITH knife is done! I've not done many hidden tang chef's (and my first full sized) so this was a great learning experience for me. It's my second Wa style handle. I'm going to be short on time to do a saya but the blade is ready. It's my take on a Kiritsuke. The blade is 7.5" 52100 steel. The handle is Ringed Gidgee and African Blackwood. The blade is full flat ground with the lower 1/4 convexed down to 0.05"

Ok, I'm done. Chef 190mm, 55 mm at the heel. 52100 rc 61 with mustard patina. Handle is afezilia and dyed and stabllized cottonwood burl with G-10 liners.
Saya is anigre with walnut spacer and pin. weight is 6.1 oz
