Kitchen-specific Becker knives?

It's Guyon who has them all. I only have one Magnum Camp I bought at the end of the 1990s. It was my first BK and still my favorite.

My next was the Patrol Machete. It's a good blade but I still prefer a good khukuri for serious hacking.

My other two are a BK7 Combat/Utility and BK9 "Hog Hunter".

I don't have any of the new KaBar-produced line yet. An additional BK7 and a new KaBar version of the Magnum Camp would be on my list though.

They make a short version of the BK7 called the Crewman.

I'd like to see a short Magnum Camp added to the line; a version with a blade about 6" long. It would be somewhat like a 21st century version of the old 'roach belly' trade knife.

The reason being the full size Magnum Camp is a great butcher knife and it's also long enough and tough enough to be used as a machete, but it's a little too long for detail work.

The Campanion is almost this, but not quite.

A shorter Magnum Camp would be sweet. The BK-9 could handle the big stuff and the Shorter Magnum Camp for everything else. :) I'd buy one for sure and maybe more.

I'd definitely buy a short magnum camp. That medium size would be great for just about anything.

You could clean fish with it, field dress a deer or hog, then use it to peel potatoes.

My usual medium-sized hunting/fishing/kitchen knives are Green Rivers. A 6" blade magnum camp would replace them I think.

:D

a shorter magnum camp. well, boy-howdy. wouldn't that be sweet?

imagine, a set of from woods to kitchen to table knives?

magnum camp steak knives. heh.

i've been half tempted for years to have a *set* of BK11s as steak knives actually. mmm! the CSM model would be dandy there... the magnums in stainless would be even better :)

Oh yeah I can dig it:

Two Mini-Magnum Camps, a 1095 version... and a SanMai or VG10 version.

Yes indeedy.

One of the reasons I say the Campanion is not the same as a mini-magnum camp is the Campanion has a much thicker and stiffer spine. With the thinner, more flexible blade of the magnum camp, the 6" blade mini-magnum would also be a good fillet knife. The Campanion of course would win when it comes to chopping, splitting, and prying, but rigidity is not everything.

Which is actually the roles served by short butcher knives; the "survival knives" of 18th century america. One medium sized, lightweight knife used for all general cutting purposes, with the tomahawk or trade axe used for the heavy work.

there are four kinds of SPAM,which one do you like ?
