Years back I bought a Spyderco red handled 4" kitchen knife. I think it's the K-5. It is a serrated blade and it's the knife I use the most when I cook. The only thing is that the knife cuts on a slant because of the grind on the edge. I just compensate the for the cuts I make. It would be a good idea for Spyderco to produce a knife with serrations but with an symmetrical edge. Sal, sound good to you? Thanks.

still waiting for these. Should work just fine in the kitchen.;)

R,
Yes, the yellow handled knife is what I'm talking about but is the edge symmetrical? I never thought I'd use a serrated knife in the kitchen but I'VE CHANGED MY MIND! Let me know about that edge.

if i am understanding it correctly you want a knife with the serrations on both sides of the blade. right? i remember reading a post asking about this and Sal said that they tried it and the knife didn't cut any better so the labor and time to grind it with no real benefit would be cost prohibitive.

Tony.
A symmetrical serrated edge would let the knife cut strait, not better. The edge on these knives now cut like a chisel-grind, it pulls in one direction. Did I explain that better?

you explained it just fine...i still think the answer is going to be a negative because of the labor/time/cost though, maybe Sal will chime in on this. Like i said before i am just writing what i remember from another post (i don't recall if it was here or at Spyderco's forum) so i could be missing something.

VG,
Thanks for the old thread! THAT is a great idea- a symmetrical serrated edge. With todays advanced technology how hard could it be? If Spyderco picks this up they'll raise the bar-again! I hope they do.
