All these knives are stunning -
Pafka, that keyhole handle is simply amazing - Great work.
Evan, tell us more about that meteorite Damascus blade. Did you forge it using Meteorite? The knife sure looks good.
the meteorite damascus was taken from the end cuts of at least 7 different billets I've made in the past two years and the flaws were taken to the 2x72 and was reforged in a canister.
I know that there are 4 different meteorites in it those being Campo Del Cielo,Muonionalusta,Gebel Kamil and Aletai.
the metals in the damascus are 1084 from powder 1090 from powder 1095 15n20 W2 and then a small bit of 50100.
after the canister was solid I folded it 4 times grinding one side of the can off in between each fold.
the blade was quenched in parks 50 and was tempered twice for two hours one cycle at 400 and another at 350 to 375.
blade was etched in gator piss (the acid) "not questionable fluids from Florida men on creigslist"
g10/hadle was taken up to 400 grit on the belts and was then buffed on the buffing wheel.
it will come with copies of test results for the meteorites I have sent for testing,I generally order in bulk and send 2 or 3 pieces off for testing with each bulk order.
other times I will take pieces up to a gold silver and coin store local to my area and have them get the chemistry from an XRF laser looking at the Ni content in pieces for 5% and up reading on Nickel.
terrestrial iron generally will not contain more than 3% NI at most in natural ores.
