Attention KITH "Woo-Hoo my KITH Knife Arrived" and other participant info

I received T. Mont's knife and it's a beast with great fit and finish. I want to do pics with day light so you guys are going to need to wait a bit more until weekend.

Thank you T. Mont for the knife and Stacy for the organisation, great KITH this year!

Got my knife from tattooed freak (Sean). Very handy size/profile and look forward to giving it a workout. This time of year I work from dawn to dusk so will post pictures this weekend when I can get some natural light. Thanks Sean and Stacy.

I hope that Daniel doesn't mind me posting more pictures of this lovely knife, its my new favourite, I thought my sabatiers were good but this is on a different planet, maybe not even in the same solar system. :)

It went through the steak literally like a hot knife through butter, probably easier! The very gentlest of pushes.

Woohoo! Received the knife crafted by MotorCityMike MotorCityMike today. It is an awesome flipper with a titanium frame. I'm really impressed with the overall quality of the knife and the attention to detail he put into the construction and the beautiful grinds. Feels great in my hand and will definitely be a regular EDC for me.

Thank you Mike!

I'm glad you like it. Hopefully it'll serve you well

Even though I had 2 months to complete it, I still barely made the deadline

I have a fulltime job and only make knives in my spare time. And I work SLOW. Look how long it took me to respond to this post 😆

I mostly give my knives away so this KITH has been really awesome!

Thanks to everyone that participated. There's been some truly beautiful knives created here.

I hope I did the knife justice with this pics.

Tony's knife is a bowie style blade with a modern ito wrapped handle soaked in epoxy.

Blade length - 15 cm
Total length - 29 cm
Spine - 5 mm
Weight - 248 g

Grind and plunges are very well executed, Tony put an antique finish on it which makes it look like San-Mai. I guess it's a combination of acid etching and gun blue with some sanding in between. The finish is very uniform and looks very nice.

I am not sure what the steel is (1090 or 26c3 maybe?), but the blade is stout with a perfectly executed ffg which gives it a nice taper. It is uniform, thin on the edge and shaving sharp.

It would make a great camp or a fight knife.

I am also surprised on the wrap and how firm and clean it looks, you can really say that Tony put a lot of practice in this, also the bolster is clean without and very well fitted.

I said this many times, but big thanks to Tony for this great knife and Stacy for organizing.

Thank you very much for your kind words!

The finish comes during the heat treatment. It's a combination of oxidation and etching.
Can't remember how or why I did it the first time but a hand sanded blade prior the quench gives this antique look (the lower the grit, the rougher it looks, this one was taken to 400grit). After the heat treatment, I do a convex grind and sand it to 400grit.
Finally, it's etched with ferric chloride which reveals the look (the freshly ground steels etches black and the rest looks antiqued).

It's a bit tricky because a small mistake on the grinder will take away the look from the rest of the grind.

Thanks for the explanation, it makes sense as the decarbed part etches dull gray and makes it look more like San Mai. The darker scratches are where you ground through the decarb so they etched black.

Christmas came a week early!!!! (I think Santa's real name is Forrest Taylor!)

The craftsmanship is impeccable. Top to bottom it's a well made piece - right down to the dovetailed bolsters.

:)

Thank you Forrest! And Merry Christmas.

Today a package from FredyCro FredyCro has arrived and I could not be more pleased. The knife itself was even stored in a branded box - that is a nice touch. The blade is a beast and it's right up my alley. Thanks so much FredyCro FredyCro .

Thanks man, I would be happy if you could provide me with a critical review, as some things could have been better in my opinion.
