I have had a couple inquiries about a KITH this year. If the group is interested, I will gladly run it again.
This thread isn't the KITH thread, it is about interest in one this year.
The rules will be the same as in the past. You have to have gained the skills to make a knife worthy of being a gift to another knifemaker. If you are still learning, wait till next year. The knife will be a folder or fixed blade in any style the maker wishes. It should have a sheath or case, and be the best the maker can turn out. This KITH isn't the place to give away a knife you have laying around...make a new knife for the gift. It must be of the makers materials and making. Obvious exceptions are the damascus source, HT, and sheath work. Those are commonly not of the maker's doing.
If you join and the knife doesn't come out right, or other problems arise, ... no problem. No one is actually in the KITH until the end when they post the finished photo in the, "I'm ready" thread at the end of November. We traditionally have far more say they are "IN" in the beginning than say they are "READY" in the end.
If enough people would be interested, I'll put up full rules and a 2015 KITH thread this weekend.
Here is last years KITH thread:
