It's a great steal when treated right, and I've been hearing a lot of good things about Kizer in general to where they've actually been added reasonably high on my "to do" list because of it... Couldn't tell you 1st hand, but for a reasonable price I would bite...
I have the KI403A2. I can t be sure after looking on the Kizer web site, but I believe the difference between the a1 and a2 is tip down carry for the a1 and tip up carry for the a2. I ve only carried mine for light edc so far but it seems to be very well made and solid. It s certainly a good knife for the price. And if the hollow ground s35v steeel at an rc of 50-60 performs like the Sebenza hollow ground blade of the same steel and hardness, I ll be very happy. Well put together and not too heavy for the blade size. I ve tightened my pivot once with a 30 torx driver to get it to my liking and it seems to be holding fine. I like mine.
I have both the A1 and A3, great knives. The A1 was actually my first Kizer. Incredible value, good steel, good F&F, nice G10 and it's really cool the way they ano the lock side. At the price you can find these, they're awesome. Get one, you won't be disappointed!
I have four Kizer models and find them to be incredible value for what you are getting. I just purchased Dorado Ki455A1 and a Ki5414A2. My original Kizer is a solid titanium handle Ki401X2. I like the knife but it is not very grippy. The g10 will help. Blade steel is awesome and came with a razor edge.
Thanks for your comments. My one should arrive today so I will be able to see first hand. I had the retailer take some close up photos of the unit he had in stock and it se3med like there is a fair amount of attention to detail going on. Anyhow I will post a short review when I have had it for a few days.
