Kizlyar knives

Can you say what knife specifically it is and if it's a folder or fixed blade? I'm working on a theory of Kizlyar Supreme knives and so far it's that only their fixed blades are truly Russian made.
It is the senpai. Which is fixed.

FMJ- Thanks for the feedback. Didn't see any reference to a China-Russia connection for Kizylar Supreme on the CAS website. Was I missing something?

well if you type Kizlyar on the CAS Iberia official website.... you'll see most of the Kizlyar lineup. They say they import them in US tho BUT, on another website specialized in selling made in asia stuff, you also find them.

Coincidence?

I’m not trying to be a wiseguy, but maybe they’re sneaking by on a technicality in (some of Russia being considered Asia? As in, “Never start a land war in central Asia”. Just saying as it may have some bearing on why either Kizlyar company may appear on a “Asian” site. I’d definitely like to hear more from folks as I’m an avid collector and have recently become interested in a few Kizlyar models. Hoping more of them are actually made there.

Erm, no, we don’t.

The part of Russia considered as Asia is east of the Urals, which although large is sparsely populated to say the least.

Of course I was kidding (mostly). But you are 100% right. I was just hoping they were still all made in Russia. Interested in a few of their knives and mostly seeing positive feedback, but I’d literally never heard of them until recently.

For anyone that is interested in individual knives, the Kizlyar knives are well represented by one of the approved vendors, Knife Center. You can go here, look at the knife you like and in its description it will tell you where it was actually made without all the extraneous or confusing crap.

Sorry, but no dice. I guess we aren’t done with the extraneous and confusing crap, as that link is not for ‘Kizlyar’ knives but for ‘Kizlyar Supreme’ knives. Two different companies, two different lines of products.

As far as I can see, you will struggle to find US sites that supply ‘Kizlyar’ knives, but ‘Kizlyar Supreme’ knives seem almost as if they are tailored for foreign export... Hmmmm ;)

Bringing this thread back to life, if for no other reason than to mention that I bought a Whisper in D2, and it bears the "Made in Russia" print on the spine. The workmanship is excellent, and if nothing else, it cuts steak quite well. It's my second Kizlyar Supreme knife (along with the previously mentioned Savage) and I have no reason to doubt the country of origin. I will say that I have no basis for comparison, having not owned any other Russian brand's knives, but initial impressions from EDC use are 100% positive.

Vega and Ute
SFORGTR.jpg

Both are thick beefy Liner locks with solid lockup
Both say 440c
&
Both say "made in Russia" right on the blade... so unless something shady is in the works, then idk?

They also both see their fair share of work and have held up quite well to everything I've thrown at 'em....

Good afternoon, I am from Russia :) Although Kizlyar Suprem and the Russian firm, it is not valued by us. There is a suspicion that knives are made in China.
Do not confuse Kizlyar Suprem with just Kizlyar. These are two different firms. Kizlyar - knives of the initial, budget segment in Russia, with a fairly floating quality. At the same time, they are quite strong, and, most likely, will suit inexperienced users, or for rough work.
In the rest - we are recommended to take a closer look at the budget models from Cold Steel or Mora Knives, when a novice asks to buy him Kizlyar knives. At the same time, quite a lot of people use these knives (including me). As a rule, they are those who can not, or do not want to spend money on a well-known foreign brand.

Also, Kizlyar is used by those who are "patriot" and do not want to use unknown Chinese knives :)

In general, if someone wants to learn something about Russian knives - write, I will answer. We can phone in Skype :) It's always interesting to exchange experience with foreign friends on hobby.

Yes, I know, old thread...but why start a new one on the same topic?

I will answer you.
1. A fixed blade Kizlyar Supreme is sitting in my office. Purchased this year. The second fixed blade is an Al Mar. The Supreme replaced a Fallkniven A1. This is because I only want to keep two on a shelf. Having more fixed blades out - and stolen- would make me feel bad.
2. The third fixed blade is a 2 handed Barry Dawson knife I had him make to my specifications for a special application. It hangs on the back of the door on a hook.

Enough said.
