Seeing some reviews of these lately and I've decided that I need one. I had decided on a guyot, but then saw some favorable reviews of the kleen kanteen. What are the advantages/disadvantages of each?

I like the Guyot better because it has the same thread size pattern of regular nalgenes so water filters and other accessories will still work with them.

Both are great though.

I have both, and I say

Guyot!!! Wide mouth, loads of accesories.

Klean Kanteens are very nice too. Cant go wrong with either, Just think the guyot has the edge...

i don't have any water filters or other accessories for nalgene type bottles, and i liked the idea of the slightly narrower mouth (makes it easier to drink from). i got the 40 oz size, which is the same size around as a 1 liter nalgene, so it will fit nesting accessories for nalgenes, as well as exterior pockets sized for nalgene.

the narrower mouth makes it easier to drink from and keeps more heat inside if you are boiling in it...

and i really like the cap design (i have the loop cap). large threads, solid O ring seal, and the cap goes inside, which means no dribble like from the exterior threads of a nalgene/guyot.

i had the choice and went KK, because of the features listed above. if you have gear that is oriented towards the nalgene, then the guyot might be better.

You can get inserts for the guyot to make it more drinkable. Ive never had a thread dribble issue from mine, Simon have you used a guyot? The cap is differant then the standard Nalgene, and it seals very well. As far as boiling, it doesnt save you much time with the narrow mouth. Ive tried em both, and the differance in time is very slim.

I also like the Guyot b/c it can double as a cookpot in a pinch.

Where is that thread on the Guyot mods someone did??

Thats the one Flix!!! Ive been meaning to look up that one. I am gonna copy your setup a little....;)

I have both, though my Guyot is defective, and needs to be replaced.

While I agree with some of what siguy says, I prefer the Guyot to the Klean Kanteen, overall. The wider mouth is easier for putting stuff into my water bottle, such as mixing in protein powder. The wider mouth also makes it easier to put objects into it, such as using my Guyot bottle to hold my PSK. I also like the flared metal below the cap on the Guyot, which can be drilled through, to attach a bail. Also, the Guyot seems to be made of thicker gauge metal. Also, since it is wider, it is less prone to tipping over.

I was leaning to the Guyot and that is what I just ordered with the GSI cup. Thanks all.

Where is the best place to get the accessories for the Guyot?

Ah, nice choice bro.... Now get yourself the maxpedition bottle holder, and you will be set!

One of my favorite accessories, besides the GSI cup:

Just about anything that works with standard nalgenes will work with the Guyot so pick your favorite place. I like REI and Campmor.

I have both. I like the Guyot all the way.
Pro:
Thicker walls, harder to dent/damage
more stable on the ground
caps are easy to find and interchangable with other Naglene lids
Naglene accessories are interchangable
Wider mouth allows it to be used a pot much easier
The ridges around the top makes it easier to use a multi to get it out of the fire and/or attack a wire pail.
I have dribble problems with the KK, the wide mouth is easier for me.
It is easy to tie down a lid to the guyot

Con,
Holds 2 oz less water
is slightly heavier

The guyot is much heavier duty and versatile in my opinion.

I use the 10x4, and have a pretty good kit built on it too. Nice quality and cheap IMO at around 30.00
