KLVUK luv [review & pics]

Joeraz, good little write-up. Now that you have one, you probably now realize that it's so good that photos are not needed for any write-up about them. Nor even a write-up! And any write-ups are epistles of love. You'll also notice that there are only TWO kinds of khukuri owners: Those who have one of KL's villagers and those who don't. Really too bad there are so many wannabes in the world, eh? Enjoy your blade.

I made a redneck cardboard duct tape sheath for mine and it works really well. Just don't get it wet.

Great pix and review, thank you for sharing

Blue, you're absolutely right! Just like the original Ganga Ram's they more you use them, the sharper they get!

That's scary and cool. I can't wait for my incoming triangle box! 20.5" Gelbu Special..

I want to see (covet) some more Bura knives.

Bawanna
That's happened to me 5 times now too. I do have my own finally and I'm not giving it up.
PMkhukoo head
I don't have one right now because I keep giving them away to impressed friends and family. Gonna have to remedy that...

The one true weakness of the klvuk (and mora knives for that matter). I made the "mistake" of lending mine to my mom. Got the klvuk eventually, need to buy another mora.

Thanks for both pics of the Bura villager. I see the family heritage, lines & angles very close, my klvuk is slightly thinner belly and more pointy. You have a beautiful piece there.

Thanks Joeraz, it's my pleasure to share the little I know.

Bb, you have much more to share than I, both experience on forum & collection ;)
I truly enjoy the generosity of knowledge on this forum, it's a real tribute to Uncle Bill's values.

I was tasked with destroying some big backup tapes at work and rather than unwinding and then cutting the tape up with scissors, I decided to chop them in half. If I removed the aluminum plate in the middle of the tape and a rather large steel spring I could chop the thing in half with one blow. After chopping a few I decided to see what happens if I left the aluminum plate in - I still could chop it in half although it took an extra chop or two. Lastly, I tried with the steel spring in. That rolled the KLVUK's edge but even then it was pretty easy to fix the edge.

:thumbup:Sounds like assignment I'd stand in line for! And good advice, test chop away!! just hold up when you get to steel

sounds like fun, closest i ever got was when a co. i worked for hired a builder's skip for us to clear out an old storage room full of obsolete pc's & other stuff. we had to take out and destroy the hard drives. i got to smash them with a sledge hammer. tough little buggers. don't think a khuk would do for them. old backup tapes we'd degauss then incinerate.

Put my KLVUK through a ton of vegetation clearing today. Vines, grass, shrubs, and small trees - no problem at all. After a full day of work only one minor rolled edge ( probably got lazy and started to twist when pulling out of the chop). Few taps with my hammer and good as new. Then I cleaned it up, and chopped veggies n potatoes for dinner! [emoji1]

Beautiful:thumbup:
Did you remove forge scale as you were thinking in earlier post, or just worn off from serious use?

Took most of it off with vinegar and a light plastic scrubber. I use it sometimes for cooking and the scale comes off a little on the food - which is probably not healthy [emoji51]. But the scale also comes off when I clean the blade to remove sap. Either way the KLVUK is always one of my first options for yard work.

Mines always the first one I grab as well. Pugs made me a nice sheath which I can sling over me. I usually wear it riding my lawn mower. Anything that hangs down or tries to grab me becomes a victim of blade thrashing maniac.

Neighbors sometimes look at me kind of funny but I like that. Keep em wondering about the crazy old man on the corner.

Yeah I'm really impressed by photos I have seen of pugs sheaths. Seems like the honorable thing to do for a steady workhorse like my KLVUK.
