I recently converted to variable speed and I'm selling my pulley setup for the KMG.

I had this motor on my KMG for about a year. It is very stout, the motor shaft is 7/8" -it worked very well for grinding big bowie knives. It is a "Farm Duty" TEFC motor. 1-1/2 HP, 1725 RPM and wired for 220V. (It can be wired for 120 if you need to, but i highly recommend the 220V, it's much more efficient).

SOLD

I accept paypal and money orders.

First "I'll take it" gets it.

Thanks!

What speeds were you getting with those pulleys? I am also assuming that the hinge plate is part of the deal, correct? I will take it, providing on answers to questions. Sounds like a good deal to me. :)

Hi Wade,

Yes, the hinge plate is included.

(By the way it's the same setup in terms of speed that Rob sells on his website).

Motor Pulley KMG Pulley Speed
2" 4" 863 RPM
3" 3" 1725 RPM
4" 2" 3450 RPM

This is speed at the 4" aluminum drive wheel (the one that moves the belt) and works very well with all grinds.

Of course if the contact wheel size changes, the surface feet per minute changes ie. using a 3" contact wheel vs. a 10" -but I never had any issues as it is a standard setup.

I know Rob also offers a 6" aluminum drive wheel for the KMG for more "hogging" power, but I never needed it.

I also flat ground a lot of 5/16" thick bowies using the flat platen and his recommended setup. Just use some good belts (if you plan on grinding blades this big). Norton Blaze 36 grits work fast.

Otherwise, the ol' 60, 200, 400, 400 cork (loaded w/ green chrome), 600 cork (loaded w/ green chrome), 800 cork (loaded w/ green chrome) -followed by buffing will produce an excellent mirror finish for a Loveless-styled knife.

Hi Wade,

Are you still interested? I replied to this thread and also e-mailed you yesterday to let you know that I did at around 3:15 PST. I have two other buyers that are interested.

If I don't hear back from you by noon today, it's going to Doc. I'm sorry, but I'm just really broke right now and need the money. PM me, e-mail me, or reply to this thread, I'll get anyone one of those.

Yes I want it. Sorry to take so long to get back to you, I have been in the middle of a computer change over. That is always a hassel, but I do have a new computer and a new blackberry, compliments of my work. Let me know how to get the money to you. My email is: wadeholloway(at)att.net

Also Flat, let me know what kind of deal you will make with the Grizzly motor. They can be shipped together, maybe. :)
