P.S., I've been making mine all 21", except the one I just made at 50" to accommodate the 136" belts I just got in.
 
Darren is that before or after deburring the cut edges;)
I Never thought of using different lengths for longer belts.
Are you using solid stock or can one get by with thick wall square tubing or maybe aluminum? I am goint shopping for some stock tomorrow and needed to know how much to buy, (if I can fine any at all) I will need about 3 extra bars, one for the platen, small wheel attachment, slack belt attachment and one fo a 10 inch wheel. Thanks for the info, mike

That's before deburring. :D Rob sells extra tooling arms on his site if you can't find what you need locally. I don't think I'd go with anything but solid bar for the tooling arm...Rob's got this whole grinder design down to a science...or at least an engineering problem solution :D :cool: :D, and I think if he could have used tubing and still gotten by with minimum vibration he probably would have done so...seriously though, he's done all of the simulations on his designs, I trust he's made the best design he can.
