KMG vs. Bader BIII

Wow. I never thought I would get so many responces. The biggest thing for me is to get a machine that is of high quality and be totally versatile. I respect your opinions and value them "all of them". I believe that the KMG is definately the machine for me. :thumbup: :thumbup: :thumbup:

One last question. Can the KMG be operated in both directions from standard factory options or does it have to be modified on your own?

I have a good friend who has a Bader, Burr King, Square Wheel, KMG, and several other grinders (total of 8) and I was talking to him on the phone and told him about this thread and how it looked like KMG was taking a strong lead as the best grinder, and he said "Wellllllllllllll, I just don't know about that"......then launched into an assessment of each machine, and finally said he wasn't sure which is best, Bader or KMG.
I have a Bader, have used the KMG and all I can say is that they're both great machines and are backed by good people who sell them. No way to make a mistake either way you go.

Bigbear,

Let me put another vote infor the KMG, or perhaps two votes as I own 2 KMGs :) When I was looking around and made several similar posts to yours, it seems that the majority of the responses I got were in favor of the KMG so that's what I bought. So far it's been a great machine. Because you can buy just the grinder with no motor and supply your own, it's a solution that you can work into gradually as far as the money goes. That flexability isn't available with any other grinder. I couldn't be happier with my grinders, one bought new from Rob and the other bought in as new condition locally from a young guy that decided he needed money more than a grinder. I started out with cheaper drive options, but just yesterday received a nice box from Rob with my two new KB VFDs as well as a spare tooling arm and another small wheel size :) Time to upgrade my machines to a bulletproof variable speed drive option.

I've never heard anyone say a single negative thing about the KMG except one fella cryin because he didn't paint his and it rusted some :jerkit: A couple cans of spray paint would have prevented that and then you even get to pick what color it is :)

Regarding reversing, that depends on how you power it. If you use a single phase motor, you're going to have to engineer a mechanical reversing option, but if you use a DC drive, or an AC system with a VFD type controller, then you can reverse it with the flick of a switch.

Did I mention that Rob Frink is a hell of a nice guy and is the one who answers the phone when you call with a question?

KMG = Highly recommended!

I own a Bader BIII and love it, but if I had to do it all over again, I'd get a KMG. In fact, as soon as I can afford one, I'm getting a KMG anyway. :)
