This is a first for me. Never have built a knife with a flint knapped blade. I asked my friend Leroy Beard who is in his 80"s and lives in Cathlamet,WA to knapp me a blade. He has been doing this for the better part of 50 years and this blade he did for me is really beautiful. Its really hard to see the full effects unless you hold it up to the light.Anyway I carved a Grizzly on the end of a very nice piece of Elk antler. The guard is two pieces of Water Buffalo with a piece of pre-ban Walrus ivory in between. I tried to get the effect of the knapping by grinding the guard like the antler. The display is a piece of Quilted Maple sitting on a piece of black acrylic. I think the whole package came out pretty nice.Hope someone likes it
