Got a couple of sweet folders recently, the Spyderco Farid K2, and A Hinderer XM-18 with bowie blade. :)
I must thank the haters for this...it was their whining that reminded me that I meant to get a Hinderer at some point, and prices are better now. :D

Pretty pleased so far; look forward to decades of use out of them.

I think the K2 will make a great trail-hiking knife for those times when I just want something to cut thorns, tall grasses and such out of the way (not full woods bushwhacking...just clearing a pre-established trail of stuff that gets in the way).

The Hinderer flips pretty easily (I've seen better, but it's pretty good), and is sized for easy EDC.

Initial impressions are good. :)

Decided to celebrate a clean bill of health with a hand-rolled Cuban cigar.
Quit cigarettes 11 years ago, but about twice a year a nice cigar is okay. :)

XM-18 makes a good cigar cutter.

K2= Grail! Very nice knives indeed. Few questions, does the k2 flick out fast and is it sticky?

The K2 blade does indeed thumb-flick out very quickly and easily.
The lock is very sticky at first, but from what I've read, tends to get less sticky as it wears in.

I have a custom frame-lock that was so sticky at first, I had to use the butt-end of a lighter or some other thing to unlock it; once it wore in fully, lock-stick was entirely gone. :)

The lock-bar cut-out is 0.053" thick, which makes for a nice solid spring.

I really dig the Hinderer, have the same in sand G-10. I hope that coffee is a quality brew that'll do the blade and cigar justice, you deserve it my friend.

I love that Bowie!

Me too!

Congrats!

Thanks. :)

Tim Horton's dark roast; I like it, but opinions vary by person (one of my history profs calls it "brown water" rather than coffee :D).

My Farid mini K2 is my favorite edc. I may end up grabbing the Spydie K2 eventually.

Go for it!
It carries very well, and I tested it today on some dried hawthorn wood...cuts very, very nicely.
The rounded spine portion is quite comfortable when using the thumb during carving.

I like it too...feels great on the thumb.
How's the lock stick?

Love the Hinderer and the thanks to the whiners!

Very nice knafs stabman; those are two blades I wouldn't mind owning at all... ;)

I was surprised how large the K2 actually is after seeing at a local bricks and mortar store.:cool:

Same with mine..I pencil it up once a week or so.

The strong spring combined with a less steep tang ramp certainly does make for a sticky lock initially...but there's no way in hell that it'll accidentally close on your hand. :)

Not the best choice for chronic knifesturbators though. :D

The handle is very hand-filling for being relatively thin.

It's not as huge (or heavy) as the Tatanka, but it sure is bigger than the Military.
