kneck knife

I really like the looks of that Buck Mayo Kaala!

I love neck knifes! I'm going to have to have a go at making some.

Well here is my first one. Its small but you almost forget its there. Sharp as a razor!

Brusletto Balder. Excellent manufacturer. 2" Sandvik blade, extremely sharp. Just enough handle to be useful. Leather pouch-style sheath. Under $15.

I'll play. How about a Bow Legged Joe?

I like my David Farmer small drop point. It can be used as a neck knife 6" overall, convex 1095 and sharp as all get out. I like mine alot.

Has anyone tried a buck kaala?

The Buck Kaala is actually a real nice neck knife for the price. It's hollow ground sharply, but does come with a very sharp edge. As a slicer, this is a great deal. You also have the option of going with just the hollowed handle for a very thin package or you can add some 550 cord to make it a little beefier to grip.

The Boker Subcom FB is a nice stout necker. I have a couple that I like quite a bit. They are thick at the spine but the nice tall flat grind makes them great cutters.

Two of my fav's:

I don't usually jump into the middle of threads, but finding the right neck knife took me a while so I thought I might have something worthwhile to say here. Finding the right necker seems to be almost as personal (and subjective) as finding a watch that really works for you. That said, I was at both ends of the search pole in terms of how long it took for me to find one. The Perrin (made by Fred) LaGriffe was immediately, for me and my training, the perfect martial arts/self defense knife. But it is not an EDC.

I went through A LOT of EDC neck knives (a real pain as those of you who do that know) until I finally hit on Tom Krein's midtech Dogfish and bingo! Worked for me as soon as I got it and then it was only a matter of getting the chain to the right length. What's funny is I'll probably use the bottle opener as much as the knife...but that knife will go with me on all my treks and fishing trips even though I carry a fixed and a folder those times. Without really being snobby about the whole thing...a midtech or custom necker isn't that expensive and the quality of one of those versus production (not counting BRK&T) is, again in my opinion, worth the price and the wait to find one.

Rock6 - that is a great shot for making comparisons - thanks. That Fallkniven WM1 looks to be about the heaviest based on size - but also looks like it has a really comfy handle. Is it too bulky for neck carry

Awesome collection of neck knives!
Which is your favorite in the bush?
Have you carried the Fallkniven WM-1 as a knecker?

Thanks guys; actually the WM-1 is my most often carried and yes it's a little heavy for neck carry. I carry the WM-1 in a figure-eight para-cord harness (MercHarness) which is both discreet, comfortable and quickly accessbile. I did a lot of traveling via helo in Iraq and avoid things around my neck.

RJM's little Handiman in D2 is a great knife as is the very inexpensive AG Russell Woodswalker.

Small little bugger, its a 2 finger neck knife with a 2.5" blade. Sheath can be worn on a belt or obviously as a neck knife.
