Thanks to John Andrews telling me how Dave Larsen shoots his pictures I have finally been able to improve on my photos a little bit.

This is my first blade of RWL-34. Pretty nice steel to work and it sure seems to hold an edge well.

Picture of other side and specifications are here: http://riflestocks.tripod.com/pics15.html

Thanks for looking.

Much better photo and the knife isn't bad either. Are you satisfied with the RWL-34 ?

Roger, what can I say? Another really great one! And you are nervous about using some materials, huh? Well, from the way your knives turn out,I say you got nerves of steel! Really NICE, Roger, and your pictures turned out really well, too!

Roger
very nice I like that bone too..
edited to remove the picture you got it now...
:)

Way to go Roger! Very nice finish and workmanship. And that includes the photo.

I'm with John - don't you cringe cutting those exotic materials?

You da man,

Steve

Thanks all!!! I like this design, which I copied, and with the palm swell it fits good in the hand.

Dan, I owe you one for that. Thanks.

Mete, I believe the RWL-34 grinded a little easier than ATS-34. Seems that way anyhow. I tempered it to 60 HRc and have cut 290 foot of thin card board trying to keep most of that cutting in one general area of the blade (the tip area). It still shaves. It seems like a nice steel to work and it buffs nicely too. I do not know if it buffs up finer than ATS-34 though. It may but I haven't worked enough of it yet to find out.

Steve, you and John be da man.

Sylvester, good to see ya back bubba!!

Roger that is beautiful! Thinking about your cutting results today made me realize I'm going to have to spring for that oven sooner than I had planned - I just need to get dialed in better and you are my model for scientific heat treating! :D Great work, thanks for sharing.

Dave

No prob Roger
hey have you got a chance to
worked that jade at all yet?
just wondering?..:D

Nice blade! The whole package looks very clean and crisp.

That is a nice knife - fantastic execution and looks to have top notch fit and finish. Plenty of belly. Not sure of the specs, but it seems to be nice and thin with a flat grind - all my favourites !! So you finally took the plunge and checked out the RWL-34 ... good on you ! I keep saying that I prefer carbon tool steels but if I had to choose 1 stainless, it would be RWL-34. Jason.
