Here is my second knife. It's my first attempt at a hammon. Overall it came out really nice. It cuts nicely too.

1/8" 1095
8" OAL 4.5" blade
Bloodwood scales

i wish i could take credit for the design, but the idea came from on of Phillip Dobson's knives he posted in the kitchen knife section here.

The knife is great in the kitchen. I've never used a knife this sharp. I plan on making one for my wife. She wanted one a little smaller to fit her smaller hands.

Nice! Love the bloodwood and the leaf shaped blade. What steps did you use to HT the 1095? I know that one can be a doozy :o

i read all the articles about it and everyone seemed to have their own way of doing it. I applied the clay (satanite), let it dry, heated it up to ~1500 and then quenched in peanut oil. I screwed it up the first time so i had to redo the HT.

Aye, I hear you. I know 1095 can be a bit more picky with the temperature than other carbon steels through personal experience... :grumpy: Plus, everyone has their own way which works for them so that doesn't help at all. I'm getting 1080 the next time I have to buy steel LOL!

Nice one.
That looks to be a very functional knife and that's a very nice hamon for a 2nd knife!!!
