Knife 3 inches or under

Have you considered a Benchmade 705 or 770? Both are nice knives that are both under the 3 inch limit.

First of all I agree with what others have said about waiting to make your purchase after you get to Japan. With that said I would go with an SS/PE Delica as opposed to the FRN model. It's a little more durable but you will have to deal with the extra weight. For the second knife get an SAK Tinker or one of the other V'noxs in that size/price range. You can get both of these knives for under $100.00.

Anyone know how long 60mm is? I just talked to a knife dealer in Japan and he said the legal limit was 60mm. Is that 3 inches?

60mm * 1 in./ 25.4 mm = 2.36 in. or just a hair under 2 3/8" and an even smaller hair above 2 23/64". That's mighty small.

EDIT: If that's the law, then I wouldn't carry anything above 2 1/4 just to be on the safe side. ENDEDIT

If your limit is around 2 3/8", you should definitely look at the Spyderco Salsa in titanium, the Dragonfly, the new Dodo when it comes out, and the Kiwi. Spyderco is great for small knives. You may also look at a William henry Kestrel in carbon fiber or a new small buttonlock William Henry.

The limit is 2.375 in., then take a look at the Spyderco Cricket, Spyderco Meercat ,Spyderco Dodo and the Benchmade310.
