Got this today and the smaller blade does not close completely. I have a needle file set and I'm thinking about filing the bottom corner. I don't want to go through the hassle of returning it. I appreciate any wisdom you can share.

Merry Christmas!!!

Will it close if you push on it and just lacks the snap to close on its own, or is that as far as it will go even with pressure? If that is where it sits I can't believe they let that leave the factory! But as mentioned above, you can file down the kick (bottom corner) and it will drop the blade.

It will not close any further even when pressing down on it.

Yeah I would do some light filing take it close wouldn't hurt but I tinker a lot with stuff so that's just me

I will try filing it tomorrow and post the results. It came as part of a Sharpfinger gift set that I received today.

Yeah, love how you have to include a check for $6.95 for return shipping back to you.

After filing a little metal away, I noticed that it still didn't close any better. Upon closer inspection, I found this piece of clear plastic wedged inside the groove that the smaller blade fits into. I fished it out and problem solved.

Good stuff. That first pic really had me scratching my head.

The same thing happened to me, except it continued until it's unfavorable conclusion. I filed the kick down ever so slowly, checking at least 5-6 times if it had lowered the blade enough, when after the last tiny bit was removed, the blade closed enough to completely cover the nail nick! A pinhead sized speck of metal lay on the bench beside the knife, which must have been wedged into the spring/kick connection. So now I have a custom sanded toothpick wedged into the blade well to elevate the blade to the proper level.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Always thoroughly clean your knife before filing the kick! :o
