Knife, and Hinges

Here's a little knife I made, thought it was wrecked but then managed to save it and in the end it became fantastic. It is my #1 go to kitchen knife for most everything. I tried getting into kitchen knives but there's so much BS and everyone's got they're own way of doing things it's like bringing up heat treating, really drags them outta the woodwork. 5160, bamboo. Not looking for critique by kitchenpeople, it works for me just fine.

Here is some hinges and a cabinet pull I worked on in collaboration with Michael Pekovich, an incredible woodworker and good friend. He asked me about working on a collaboration, and we finally managed to get together and work on something. Cabinet is white oak, hinges are steel as is the leaf pull. Extra points for figuring out how the leaf pull is attached.

I can see where that knife would be handy for all kinds of kitchen tasks, Sam.

Extra points for figuring out how the leaf pull is attached. The top of the "vine" comes out of the curl at 90 degrees, fits into a hole in the door??? that's all i got. :)

That would have been my guess too, but i would think it would have to be a pretty thick piece that went in there maybe all the way through and was peened on the other side. But even then that would make one heck of a lever, might not last...
 
Nice work all around and a unique knife. How about welding/soldering some all thread to the back of the leaf and bolting it to the door.
 
I like the hinges (and the woodwork!) a lot. Agree with the end of the spiral on the vine top taking
a 90 degree into the cabinet but I wonder if you've got another connection going where the bottom
curve of the leaf touches the cabinet face.

As for the kitchen knife: Looks thin and useful. I'd have to see how the handle feels in my hand but
that doesn't matter because it's how it feels in *your* hand that counts.
 
I like the bamboo handle on the kitchen knife. Did you fill the bamboo or is it still hollow? I've often thought about making a handle like that but haven't figured out the way to deal with the hollow part.
