Knife and Watch combo. Let's see them!

My wrist swells some in the winter (or maybe I put on extra insulation 🤔) and I usually swap to that same rubber strap since I'm out of microadjust spaces on the bracelet.

But, I sat down yesterday and managed to keep all those dang little collars aligned long enough to pop an extra link in the bracelet so I'm going to see how the bare metal feels now that it's properly cold outside.

The white waffle face + black bezel on yours looks very nice; I love it 👍

weird as my wrist swells in summertime and shrinks winter time. I'm exact opposite of ya. I only got the rubber strap for this watch. so bracelet is using the pin and collar setup? citizens version is much easier to deal with than seikos.

thank you. the samurai models are a favorite of mine.......

Yep, pin and collar for the factory Seiko bracelet. I believe you can buy aftermarket Samurai bracelets from e.g. Strapcode that use screws instead.

good to know. thanks. I've heard good things about strapcode....never owned any aftermarket bracelets before. usually use what's on it or aftermarket straps I've switched to.

First Seiko I’ve bought in a long time. Got tired of the very mediocre modified eta 2824 in every “swiss” made watch in the $500-2k range. Extremely happy with the Seiko, running +5s a day compared to my “Swiss” made with the 2824 mvmnt losing 5 minutes a week. All of which were considerably more than the Seiko. Pretty much sold on Seiko. Plan on picking up a few more over the next few years.

Most (not all) of my Seiko movements have been 20-30 seconds off a day, and I had to get my watchmaker to regulate them. Swiss ETA movements can also be adjusted to very good accuracy and consistency. My son-in-law received a Glycine Combat for Christmas a couple years back, and watchmaker got it to run +/- 2 seconds a day for me before I gave it to him, for like $40. I think it was an SW200 movement, Swiss clone of the 2824, and it started out at +12 seconds/day (drop dot com pepsi bezel diver).

yep this ^. most of my seikos run either very fast or a bit slow per day. think I've had one that was within a handful of seconds a day. I've had better luck with citizen autos. near perfect time keeping to up to 15 seconds fast a day. same with Swiss made movements. mostly few seconds a day fast. not many I've owned that were slow per day.

I’m not aware of any adjustments that could be made but will look into it. I have looked into getting them serviced. One is a Hamilton which was $2-300, the other is an Oris and if I remember correctly it was $4-500. I also have a Tag that is about 20 years old that needs servicing and that’s around $7-800. Pretty pricey! I would be happy though if they worked as well with a $40 adjustment.

Another turn off for me on the “swiss” made is that only 60 percent of manufacturing costs is required to actually be made in switzerland to be called Swiss made. And determing that is a pretty big grey area. I also have a few “swiss” made that are junk, specifically Luminox. Both being quartz that that began consistently losing time after only a few years and tritium lasting 20yrs is bs.

As of now I’m just turned off on the whole “swiss” made unless spending substantial more $$$.

As said this Seiko has been great out the box, I also have a Seiko kinetic that’s over 30 years old that works flawlessly. And their Lume blows all of my watches away which is important to me. I’ll definitely continue to buy higher end Seikos and I’d like to give some German brands a try, Sinn in particular.

I think it’s important to keep in mind that Seiko has different grades of movements so it depends on what movement you’re getting.

Personally I just haven’t had any luck with the eta 2824.
