OK, lots of time on my hands lately so I dug out some family history. The gold watch was my grandfather's. Made by Hamilton, it's engraved on the front with his initials, and inside the first back cover it is engraved "December 25, 1915." He would have been about 40 then (born in 1864). I've always been fascinated by the intricate workings under the second back cover. The jackknife was also his, a Voos with jigged bone handles, probably from about the same time, or maybe 1920.

The simpler watch belonged to my other grandfather. I know less about it, but it is clearly a more everyday watch.

The other watch is a drugstore classic, the Timex of pocket watches. I had one, bought in the 80s I think. It took a beating for many years and I gave to my lady who carried it in her purse for a long time. They were inexpensive but reliable. The watch is the Baby Ben, I believe the Westclox Big Ben was an alarm clock.
