Knife blade snap

I have a pocket knife that has almost no snap to it when I close it. Is there any way to fix this problem, without having someone who works on knives repair it?

Try giving it a good cleaning, then oiling. Use paper clips, tweezers, or whatever it takes to remove all the dirt and lint from the blade well near the joint. Sometimes, this can impede function. It's also very possible the tang is worn.

Can you give some more information about it? Brand, model?
Is it new?? If not, how long has it been like this? Has it always had a weak spring, or did it happen over time??

It is a Camillus #35 2 Blade Trapper, the blades are made of carbon steel. I received it from aunt after my uncle died, about 10 years ago, and I just found it a couple of weeks ago. I don't know how old it is or how long it has been like this. I will try cleaning it and see if that helps.
