I recently came across this Strider knockoff on ebay. This post is to make those who are just getting into knives
aware of the scams that people try to pull on you while browsing the net for that new tacticool toy you've been
wanting to get. Now, to be fair, the guy isn't claiming that it is a genuine Strider. But he did jack the price way up.

This is a screen capture from ebay. Note the price:

I thought it looked familiar. This knife is actually from China. Again, check out the price:

There are even more knockoffs of legitimate knife makers' work on this Chinese auction site:

More Striders:

Extrema closeup. Notice the name on the blade is backwards

Microtech knockoff:

Chris Reeve knockoffs. Did Chris use AUS-8 steel for the Nyala? :jerkit: No! it's CPM S35VN.

What about 440 stainless? No.

I know some American knives are actually made in China and other foreign lands. But these people
are knowingly trying to pass these off as the "real deal". :grumpy:

Advice 1:
Stop buying from Ali Express.

As for the eBay thing, unless they specifically state that it is a Strider knife and not some vague "Unique Custom Back-Up Tactical Combat Knife" or even "Strider styled", then it seems to be fair game.

There was this one incident where the seller had sold counterfeits of various knives and was able to get away with that due to that particular technicality, though I believe enough user reports got eBay to shut him down. I'll be damned if it isn't the exact same guy doing it again.

Thanks for the post Prophet . A little while ago I bought a couple of Extrema Ratio knives off eBay that subsequently turned out to be fake (they were very good copies in the photos but you could tell straight away in the flesh). I was able to return both for a full refund. Those forgers (pun intended) are getting very good at copying - the only thing that lets them down is the materials and the finish (both the knives had the correct names going the right way :D).

I've bought several Enlan and Sanrenmu knives from Aliexpress, nothing wrong with them at all, as they say, it's the seller, not the site.
Anyways, anyone who actually knows those companies wouldn't fall for it.
Wonder who actually put effort in making counterfeits but not going all or most of the way like those fake Striders and Sebenzas.

Don't know who, but if people quit buying that garbage, they wouldn't make the rip offs at all.
