How do you think is the best knife carry for me with athletic shorts and a t-shirt, neck carry?! Any recommendations, thanks.

Any knife I am talking about, folder, fixed, whatever

A small neck knife or small and or lightweight folder like a ladybug or a alox sak would be good options to try out, just add a suspension clip for in your pocket or waistband.

Nobody can tell you what the best option is, but just try out as many small lightweight options until you find out what works for you.
FYI opinels way practically nothing.

I carry large folders like a zt350 and a cell phone with a 6" screen in one pocket with gym shorts. Once you get used to it it's fine. Also you could carry iwb.

lil friction folder from walter wells in our makers section. couple ounces.
A more ninja-ish approach would be a utalitarian necker and a lil matriach with a zip-tie wave clipped in the pocket.

Depends on what you're doing. If you're just wearing them around without much activity, then a folder in the pocket is not a big deal.

If you plan on running, I'd either clip a folder or a fixed blade inside or outside (fixed only) to the waistband. Pocket carry while running is doable, but it likes to flop around and get's kind of annoying. Also, if choosing a folder, one with a good detent is ideal when running with a knife in the pocket.

I've carried Emersons in gym shorts without issue, some may prefer knives on the lighter side. YMMV

Folder in the pocket. Fixed blade using a Bud Nealy carry rig (IWB) if I am spending time in a particular town.

I'd carry a Peanut or SAK or Ladybug in the pocket, and add to that a sturdy necker like an Izula or BK11/14/24.

I put any knife with a clip in the waistband when I go to the gym

If I carry a knife when wearing gym shorts, it's usually either my Spyderco Delica 4 or Kabar Dozier folder. Both slim and light weight. I clip them to the inside of my waistband.

I'd go for a small, lightweight, folder clipped into your waistband. The security and comfort of carrying this way is in direct proportion to how light the knife is.

Lightweight and clipped inside the waste band. The Buck Bantam 285 is a good knife. It's inexpensive too if you think it may get lost while exercising.

Athletic shorts with a draw string support knives better than just elastic. Some running shorts not only have inner support like underwear but a draw string at the waist.
or
you can do what I do and just have your knife valet carry your knives for you . . . you know . . . kind of like a knife caddy. :D

If im out of the house, usually a BM 940 or 943 IWB. Around the house its one of the same, a 707, or a Delica in the pocket.

If you are going to actually be exercising I am finding that a neck knife has mixed reviews for me. I have been carrying a CS Super Edge on my road bike (for close range conferences with aggressive dogs ). Just cruising it is fine but climbing it gets to swinging fore and aft and makes a slap, slap, slap noise I could do without against the front of my jacket.

I have decided I like the either hand accessibility of a neck knife as apposed to a back pocket carry in which case I might be on my butt, on my knife, or the dog might have my right arm and I might not be able to get to the knife with my opposite hand.

Lightweight Manix 2 or lw Native 5 clipped iwb. Don t even know it s there.
