Knife Center Pre-orders?

Does anybody have issues with Knife Center pre-orders? I've got some knives on pre-order with them, and it seems that all other vendors have received theirs and are already sold out. Do they tend to receive their knives later than other vendors, or sometimes not get the orders at all? A bit worried and thinking maybe I should take my business elsewhere.

New releases don't (usually) get dumped in mass quantities all at once. Allotments get distributed to a number of dealers, so it isn't uncommon to see them show up in several places & be sold out quickly... until those dealers get their next allotments.
As far as not getting yours, yet, that's what happens with preorders. Unless you are right at the beginning of the list, you have to wait. How long one has to wait depends on a number of factors... including how many your particular dealer gets per shipment, how often they get their allocations, and (naturally) how many people placed their orders before you. Unless it is a limited release item, I don't bother with preorders for that reason.

10 years ago that is pretty much all I had to do to get a knife. The last 3 or so years I have given up on getting knives from KC on a pre order. It hasn't worked out for me in a long time so I go elsewhere now. I've had great and lousy service from them over the last 15 years. One time I had an operator and then her manager refuse to give me their names after I called them on the disrespectful way they were speaking to me. They now have so many customers they don't really care IME. One time they mistakenly sent me a dozen Kabars. When I called to have them returned instead of keeping them and selling some free knives the operator had an attitude. I rarely do business there now. Anybody else think the website is too slow now?

I have preordered several times with Knifecenter. I currently have a zt 0801ti on preorder with them. I have had the same experience as you when I preordered my zt 0562 from them where zt 0562s had begun to appear while I was still waiting. Not to worry, this just means knifecenter was sending them out as they get em. They allow continuous preorders and that year, many people preordered the 0562. Whereas many other retailers preorder a limited amount before they post sold out. That is why you often see many retailers sold out while Knifecenter keeps allowing preorders. You will get your knife.

I used to feel confident saying the same thing. Then they didn't come through for me and some others. Most recently for me was the 52100 Millie sprint. I would not have gotten one if I didn't buy one from a person and waited for KC to come through.

I've done a couple pre-orders with them and each time it turned out I could have gotten the knife sooner by waiting for it to come into stock somewhere else. I have no complaints about Knife Center, they've always given me good service, but I think joining an unlimited queue to wait for a production knife doesn't make much sense.

My experience is the same as Hackenslash's. I've always been happy when calling/emailing on an issue, but I've stopped doing their pre-orders because they take forever.

I have the Reate Future on pre-order. It's a limited edition and not a regular production knife, so I'm pretty concerned since GP, Eknives, and BladeHQ are all sold out of the versions I ordered, and sold out weeks ago. I know that Knife Center has not even received any quantities of this item. Puzzling.

A couple years back, I preordered a Kershaw Camber from them, and as others have described, other dealers had the Camber in stock and people here were receiving theirs well before mine arrived. It sort of soured me to the whole preorder concept.

Anybody else think the website is too slow now?

YES!...I was actually just checking this thread to see if anyone else had that problem. Whenever I'm researching a new purchase I often use various vendors' sites as a resource, and every time I click something on their site it causes my computer to freeze for a few moments. Quite frustrating, as usually when I'm doing this I have a few tabs open with threads here and YouTube reviews and such. It has frustrated me enough that I have stopped visiting their website.

If I remember correctly they are one of the first internet dealers and sure have been around a long time. Perhaps they need to look at some issues they currently have and make some changes.

I've preordered from them for a Spyderco Nirvana and it worked out ok. I use KC because I can use rewards points. However it did take awhile. I'm patient but I understand the frustration.

It'd be nice if they stopped sending out so many emails with the subject "your pre-order...." so I have to open what's effectively junk mail telling my pre-order is still on order. I click on every one of them because one of these days it will say the knife is shipping.

The only time I tried was for a CKF Sablya. Everyone sold out...I asked Mike from CKF if they were still shipping out batches to anyone...he said no...I talked to knife center and asked if they had any update since the time frame of the preorder was "undetermined" or whatever. They responded with a PR-laden "lulidk." I tried again a week later thinking I'd hopefully get a more knowledgeable rep and included the conversation that I had directly with the CEO of CKF that said "no more Sablyas [are shipping or being manufactured]." I still got the same "lulidk." I canceled my preorder and will never try it again. They not only didn't get me a knife...they made me lose out one one.

I've tried on 2 occasions to use their "pre order" option. I had to cancel both times bc I never rcvd the blades, and they were in stock at multiple other locations. Just my experience...

I personally steer clear of them...Never had a good experience...
FAR TOO many other "Above Standard" Dealers in here that are far
more buyer helpful and not too big to not reach out to make sure
you are happy..

KC is to big and far too sloppy with communication...

My 2 cent is all

I think Einstein said something to this effect: "Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters." Quartermaster. Nuff said.
